Right, I have done a bit of research on the fab this much I know calculator. As I was going to extend the term to 15 years I will try to base the figures still around that.
- Stay IO (currently paying £405PM)
- Save £850 PM for loft/op's/moving
- Mortgage deal ends may 2014
- re-mortgage for an extra 15k to do loft then (together with savings), or put cash towards moving or op it when re-mortaging.:D
- If I add 15k to mortgage I will still be on-track to pay it off in 13.5 years from june 2014
- I will op dec's £632 as planned previously
- fresh start Jan with the new plan.
- set up dd for savings but anything over that OP so I don't get fed up!

It's so difficult deciding what to do for the best...... save/OP/move/LC - I have these dilemmas to but so long as the money is being saved/OP'd and not spent on magic beans then I'm sure all will work out for the best in the end.....0

Glad you had a good break, when are you going again???
I agree with lulabelle re: the money. Whether you OP/save it's all going in the same direction. Either reducing debt now or avoiding further borrowing in the future. I like that OP calculator aswell, I have a good spreadsheet but often do some calculations on there.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Hi Cath, we will go again the same time next year hopefully as its nice and festive :xmastree:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Have made my last big op for quite a while £632  It has sent me overdrawn until dh's wages go in over the next few weeks , however knowing what I'm like and the fact its december its best not to take the risk and force myself to be good.:D
Balance now: £146,468.55, interest £13.20 per day.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Another op made today , I'm on fire this week :rotfl:
£23+ £10 halifax reward.
We have been given some money for xmas from parents - in-law and have decided to spend it on a hotel room for the night to visit my B&Sil who moved to lincoln a few weeks ago. Have found a really nice hotel on offer for £66 with 40% off so might go for that when we check they are available.
After working for dh all morning I decided to waste a bit of time this afternoon eating chocolate orange and looking at hotels rooms for next year and making plans
The kids said they would rather have merlin annual passes and weekends away than summer hols of butlin, centerparcs etc.
I have a maximum budget next year of £1535, which consists of monthly saving plus a spare week's wages from dh (3 extra weeks next year, 1). pays for the merlin annual passes, 2). pays towards breaks away, 3). pays for car and home ins and car tax.
So, the plan is to do prem*er inns and stay:- Alton towers easter 1 night
- chessington & thorpe park whitsun 1 night
- Alton towers summer 2 nights
- throw a big halloween party at home
- 2 nights at stratford upon avon nice hotel before xmas (parents only:p)
Anyway, I am off to make myself beautiful for my xmas night out with the girls I see for lunch once a week, dinner and a disco :dance:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I have been reading through some diaries this morning and noticed that yesterday was the start of the mfi3 take 3 challenge, so popped on to have a look at my target:
- Get balance down to £115,000 in 3 years
- So, £10,733 per year
I'm already getting excited about next year, its always easier the first part of the year to save money, and I feel more organised than ever before with what we will be paying for during the year even though we are still on a low budget. Plus we will start next year with no debts except the mortgage for the first time in about 15 years :jMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Have finally got round to updating dd's mobile and they matched the cashback I would have got from tcb over the 24 months plus upped the mins and texts a lot, plus I had a credit from refunded charges of £52.45 :j I think I need to op thatMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

For some reason I got up stupidly early today and have made up about 8 litres of washing gloop already. We have a busy weekend again, kids party miles away sat daytime,a night out with friends sat night and then some very old friends who have not been round for about 10 years for dinner on sunday.
I had said to them "sunday lunch" but am now wondereing if I can get away with lasagne /chilli type food instead of a full on roast as I'm feeling a bit lazy and we will have a late one the night before with probably lots of wine
Today's tasks are:- all washing/ironing up to date........until the kids came home from school!
- pack kids stuff for centerparcs next week............fail
- do accounts.......done
- clean and tidy whole house.............fail
- meal plan sundays lunch and buy food....done
- wrap dh's extra pressies if have time.....done and sorted all kids' out

_pale_ Feeling a little delicate today, after a great night out with best friend and her hubby. I have tons to do today as we have friends and their son (whom we have only met once in the last 10yrs) for christmas dinner, I was doing lasagne/chilli etc. but thought I should make a bit more effort so now have lots to get ready.
Didn't go for the full size turkey but a turkey joint from ic*land plus a gammon joint, cauliflower cheese, red cabbage and apple, homemade stuffing, tons of veg, baileys cheesecake, cheese board. Its exhusting thinking about getting up at the moment let alone cooking that lot :rotfl:
Ds2 has made some paper chains for me to decorate the log cabin, I said both the twins and then dd can have friends for a xmas party/tea type do this week on different days, plus a very good friend who lives in thailand is back for her first xmas in 20 years this week, so need to do a day time with her and her son plus a girly night out , we are off to centerparcs this friday (not packed and no food sorted yet) , plus I wanted to take dh for a pub tea before xmas, plus friend and her 2 dd's after school one night, a drinks and secret santa present swapping evening with the girls I see for lunch once a week.
Its madness, something will have to go I think, my mum and aunt want me to go to westfield shopping for the day tomorrow as well, I forgot that one.
Oh, and we are now doing boxing day lunch for 12  I asked the kids their preferance and they want to go to my mums for xmas day and stay at home boxing day, as we usually go to the inlaws we have not done anything at home for years, dh's mum was warned well in advance this would probably be the case, ( they are invited of course) but she has just told dh that she has ordered a large turkey and gammon form m&s for us all. I am standing firm on this though, so the two of them will have a lot of turkey to get through! I want to be in my house for at least some of the time.
Best get up and start the dinner, wish me luck!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
