Thanks for popping in miss optimistic
Pink Poppy, I think i've just cut the ends not the layers, it was so worth it though, as I knocked on dd's bedroom door with a pair of scissors and a handful of hair and made it look like a basin cut - so funny she squeeled at me "what the h*ll have you done to yourself!":rotfl:
Yesterdays list was completed, so todays is:- surveys
- food shopping and plan a sunday fake xmas lunch for this sunday for my family (tradition, we watch national lampoons to get in the mood:D)
- flyladying- living room clear and clean, moving sofas out
- 3 hours work for dh
- wrap and drop off friends dd's birthday gift

I'm slipping further behind with the lists
I'm staying in today to try and do some work and sort the house out too.
The shopping trip to mr s was very expensive yesterday £121:eek: a lot of which was wine/crackers/meat and bit for my xmas meal on sunday, eek I need to reign it in a bit!
Todays to-do is:- Clean whole house
- washing /ironing up to date
- 3 hrs work
- find/wrap last of the xmas presents and store in log cabin to amke a bit of room (except for the last presents still not delivered)

I managed the list yesterday except there is still cleaning to do today
With everyone home at the weekend it often seems a bit pointless as they are all so messy!
Made a little op this morning - £12.29 which was rounding up of whats in the current acct. I seem to have finally finished xmas shopping for presents :j DH does not have a lot so its possible I will cave in and buy a couple more things for him , but more than likely it will be chocs/beer etc that I can sneak in the trolley so it doesn't count.:D
I have spent less this year than normal and still seem to have enough for everyone, lots of bargins and grabbits plus a few things bought with vouchers. Today I requested a £10 hmv online voucher as a reward from the cc that I don't use anymore, so might try and get a couple more xmassy films if I can find some we don't already own.
This year I am doing another xmas eve hamper for the kids, so far I have :- 3x knitted blankets with reindeer £20 each reduced to £2 each in primarni sale last year
- the 2x latest harry potter films £2.50 each(bogof)
- a tin of quality street £4
Off to do some washing and make a chilli before meet my friend for coffeeMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Hi Newgirly - You sound very organized!
I love the idea of the Christmas Eve Hampers - the blankets were a real bargain! - Could you put some Hot Chocolate in there for just before everyone goes to bed? I think I might copy your idea
Regarding Christmas films - I picked up Arthur Christmas in Mr T's yesterday - I don't know if you saw it at the pics last Christmas, but I think they held off on releasing it on DVD until this Christmas.
I know what you mean about the tidying being pointless sometimes - I have 3 kids too DS15, DS13 and DD6 xEmergency Savings Fund - £11002015 Mortgage overpayments = £0 -

Hmm, maybe they have sold out, I can only find a cheap garage service
thanks for thinking of me anyway laura.
Hi Missoptimistic, thanks for the heads up on the arthur dvd, mine would not go last year to see it as they were "too old" pah, I'm not too old
I had a great day yesterday, they have opened a poundland in lakeside nearish where I live :j Its fanatasic, I got a wreath for the front door, xmas table presents for all the men in the family, kodak large photo paper, stationary an lots more great bits.
Today we are off to look at the local collage for dd, plus I'm going to get veg from the farm shop for my fake xmas lunch tomorrow. The kids are keen to put the tree up this weekend, and I love xmas but this seems a step to far! Maybe next weekend.
Will try and see if their are any odd pounds or pennies to op today when I've checked the accts.
Hope everyone has a great weekendMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
What a hectic day, we have spent hours at the college, followed by visiting a friend, food shopping, making a cheesecake and prepping all the veg for tomorrow, and we have had a house of 5 teenagers as well as our lot for a hot tub/pizza and dvd, and they are all snuggled on the sofa out there still looking like they are not going anytime soon :rotfl:
The twins are being little b*ggers at the moment which is stressing dh out, he does not seem to be able to pick his battles with them, so its more or less constant bickering.
I am finally having a bit of peace and quiet with a paused strictly from earlier and some lovely wine :beer:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
We went to see Arthur Christmas last Christmas Eve at the cinema but missed the end as DD turned out not to be a fan of the cinema (was her first trip!) We bought it using tesco vouchers the other day. Can't wait to watch it again.
Love your Christmas Eve hampers, I absolutely love Christmas Eve!!!! :xmassmileJune 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Hi Cath, I am with you on that I love xmas eve most of all :santa2:
Even though I am not religious I like to wait up until the midnight mass on tv and listen to the carols, we are a few doors up from a big church as well, so it nice to hear everyone leaving after the service.
The meal went well today, did'nt get to the cheeseboard though as we were all stuffed, but my homemade cheesecake was great.
Things not good with dh's stress again today, actually really badall I'm doing is trying to keep the peace and its exhausting.
Anyway, weekend over now and its a new week ahead, I shall try and get some more pre-xmas jobs done.- attempt diet a bit, did well last 2 weeks but stuffed my face the last 3 days
