Hi Gr33nr1ng3r, Thanks for popping in, its good to hear that its working for your DD, I hope some of it sinks in for mine.:) They are pretty sensible about their expectations, and certainly not as demanding as their friends and have even started to use the megashopbot to get the cheapest prices on stuff they do buy. Saving is the one thing they are not so good at, but then neither am IMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

I have just done something rather rash, and booked a centerparcs weekend before xmas
We were not even thinking of going away! Just wanted to see how much butlins would be as we used to go at xmas (v.expensive) and then ended up on cp's website, £299 for 2 nights on the 21st which is a lot but very cheap for them as its £660 for 2 nights on the 28th.
We will have to move one xmas night out with friends, and it will be a bit of a pain getting everything sorted for xmas eve when we get back, but I am sooo excited.
I'm not going to book any activites before we go and will take all or most of the food, so it WILL be cheap when we are there
I shall be back later to work out what I am going to do about the mortgage as I clearly can't be trusted to be sensible at the moment, so may have to consider going back to repayment.:oMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Hi puregeordie, thanks for popping in
We have been to haven before in norfolk and somerset and we did enjoy it, although it might be a bit cold at this time of year
Good luck reading through my ramblings , you deserve a medal.
I'm currently working out what I'm going to change the mortgage to term wise as I'm taking the plunge and upping the term todayHowever on the plus side I'm also working out a fun budget for breaks away. Back later.

Best get that mortgage changed now!A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Hi GG, butler not included (nor anything else for that matter!) however there will be sparkly lights on the trees
:xmastree:
I have rung the chelsea and changed the mortgage from 9 years 6 months to 15 yearsBut I have also changed it from IO to repayment
.
Minimum payment has now gone up from £405 (needing £1507 to clear in the remaining term) to £1037.19 per month.
The budget has been changed to allow for extras :- £80 per month xmas
- £60 birthdays
- £50 for me
- £300 grocery budget (more than before)
- £80 holidays and treats
- £60 kids pocket money (£20 each I've not gone mad!)
The plan is a weekend away before xmas for dh and me again next year and a few cheapy hotel weekends away near theme parks fr the kids.
Hopefully this will mean that extra money we come across will actually go more on the op's rather than trying to play catch up as we don't have enough set aside for everything.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I have just changed my mfi3 target from £47,200 to £32,200 to reduce the mortgage by in the 3 yrs, its more realistic with my new budget.:DMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

For some reason I've felt a bit brighter the last couple of days, not sure its because I've decided to up the mortgage term and give us a bit extra a month or not.:o I still plan on trying to aim for a few years earlier than the term, but I feel like the pressure has lifted a little.
The £200 grocery budget for nov has been ditched and I am making it £300, hence me buying some beers for dh for xmas, just need to hide them in the log cabin or they will slowly disappear.
I have been on a diet and lost a few lbs this week which has helped too.
We have so much coming up in the next few weeks, I really want to get organised, I think this is the last weekend we are not away or busy, so I would like to get the house sorted, then the presents finished, cards etc. So we can relax and enjoy december instead of the usual stress and rushing around.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I have been stewing over the op situation today, I think I am going to try and op far more small amounts as often as possible. Until now I have done this , but maybe only a couple of times a month.
I think if I have a higher budget to live off maybe I will have more leftovers to op and can try and pay off something every couple of days even if its just pennies.:D
The kids have been playing up lately so have spent the day banned form everthing electric, so the boys ended up playing monopoly this afternoon, quite sweet and a change from the xbox however not without its arguments still!
We are at the inlaws tomorrow for lunch, so my plans to get organised for xmas are out the window now as I was very lazy today as well and have done nothing.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
