sorry to but in the conversation but we buy the plastic dehumidifiers in a twin pack from poundland and leave them in the caravan all through the winter months.
It's amazing how much they collect.

    Thanks for that tweatee :D

The grocery budget is now down to £113 fro the rest of the month, after a few trips to tesc* express and a bigger shop at the big tesc* I still don't seem to have much for dinners in either!

I've a bit of a confession, for the last couple of years we have ( as well as the cc) had a large overdraft - sometimes up to £2k :o
Last month I cleared it, however dh gets paid weekly so lots of dd's come out throughout the month meaning we will still go od.

So I've decided to kind of "hold" £1000 in there from this month onwards and call it op's but not op it (for a long time!) If I just put the money in their and don't do this I will gradually eat away at it until the cushion is gone again if that makes sense.:D

The little extra on top of this supposed to be for the ops this month has just been spent on school shoes for ds1 today, so much for a no spend month.

I've just been updating my signiture and the mf2012 challenge figures. I am not even half way to my target this year :(
Nov and Dec should be good figures but even if I stick to the £200 grocery budget and don't spend a lot at xmas (going out, as presents nearly done) I will be lucky to hit £7 k out of a target of 10k for this year.

Here are some of the reasons for overspending this year :
    • about £700 on a kitchen makeover
    • £1000 is on centerparcs weekend
    • £500 ish spending money for devon holiday
    • merlin annual passes £450 ish
    • extra petrol/spending on theme park days out £200?
    • 2x weekends to alton towers (cheap hotel though ;))£400?
    • dh's 40th party/weeknd away/extra presents £600 ish?
    • bit of ikea furniture to turn conservatory into study £200
    • changed our almost new car for a 2nd hand 7 seater £1700
When its all written down it looks TERRIBLE! A total of £5750, which is not much less than the op's will be at the end of the year. Not sure why things have gone so wrong this year as the previously I had done so much better. Living costs are still very low, but the savings are going on treats. I must do better

Hi just wanted to pop in and say down feel to hard about over spending it is hard when you have kids, and everyone needs hoildays.
just by thinking about overpaying on your mortgage when you don't have to is well done to you...anyway 2013 is nearly here so good luck for next year..

Thanks for popping in and commenting, that was kind :D

Today will be a catch up day around the house, and a day to sort the finances out.DD's phone contract is up soon, so I need to cancel and get her a new phone, through tcb of course :money:
We have a busy weekend, out tonight and tomorrow round family and friends houses, plus I would like us (DH! :rotfl:) to finish the kitchen plinths etc. and the painting. It would be great to get organised and get all the little jobs done around the house and everything wrapped before dec.

    Hi Newgirly,

Just wanted to say you need to enjoy life with your kids while you can, they'll be independant all too soon. The mortgage to me kinda comes second to making sure as a family we make lots of memories.

You're getting the balance right and enjoying life with your family at the same time.
