Back home now, what an exhausting two days. Up at 3.30am, and then spent 12 hours in the pouring rain and cold at alton towers! It was great though, kids had a great time, I did "waste" money on the photos £16 for 5, but my lot like to reprint them and put them on their bedroom walls.:D

The purple hotel was FANTASTIC :
    • £19 per room 1 double/1 family £38
    • breakfast £8.25 per adult 4x free kids £16.50
    • A total price of £9.08p each per night ,a huge choice at breakfast and the receptionist even gave the kids free halloween sweets when we left.
    • A spotless room , free tea, coffe etc and even shower gel.
Now I am going to do a lot of washing as we all had about 5 layers on each which are soaked through even through the raincoats.

    OCTOBER ROUND UP:

    Start balance mortgage 2012....................£148,958
    Balance as at 29th oct............................£147,365.81

    Amount paid oct...........................................£33.19

    Start balance 0%cc 2012...................................£3268
    Balance as at 28th sept...................................£0:j

    Amount paid in oct..........................................£33.19

    Total paid off oct...........................£33.19 :o

    Total owed:...................................£147,365.81
    Interest per day:...........................£13.28

A rubbish month this month, however the (huge) overdraft was cleared so its a clean slate as of Nov.:D

Only problem is I did not pay the grocery cc in full and it has just taken the minimum so i will be charged interest next month, which was an oversight on my part.

My new cash grocery budget is £400 until the end of the year, so £200 for nov. I am not counting alcohol which is cheating but that kind of budget does not stretch to ba*leys at xmas!

Why am I up at 5 am this morning? I was so tired yesterday I had to crawl upstairs to bed :o I'm 37 and feel about 87 at the moment. Today instead of styaing home to clean and wash/iron I am taking the kids with my parents to madame tussauds and I think the planetarium(sp?) plus their favourite shop forbidden planet.

We can get in free at MT not sure about the planetaruim need to look it up, packed lunch has been banned by my mum ( they don't do packed lunches ;)) however dad will probably insist on paying for lunch out.

Only today and tomorrow before then £200 pm grocery challenge budget starts, I am having 4 friends for dinner on thurs so will have to come up with a cheap but tasty meal, was thinking of a leek and potoato soup starter and maybe veggie lasagne with a homemade baileys cheesecake (dh bought some a couple of weeks ago) and I made the mistake of opening it , now I am drinking it every evening! I am so cross with him :rotfl:

Hi tyo, thanks for posting as you have solved a mini mystery :D I had been scouring through diaries as I knew one of us was doing a mini grocery challenge until the end of the year, I remembered seeing the signature, and it reminded me I did one last year and I should do it again this year.

Hi peonie ( and cats), I am still on IO so not sure I can compare that? I don't have any spreadsheets as I am completely useless, so use a great calculator on page 16 of the sticky at the top of our board, I will have a look on it later to see as I tend to look at time shaved off per op rather than interest saved. /QUOTE]

    Hi Newgirly,
Hope you don't mind me delurking to ask a quick question! Is it the 'thismuchiknow' calculator at top of pg16 you use??? We are also on an IO mortgage (hence reading you diary with interest!!!) & i am looking to jump in & join you all. We already overpay on what our IO payment is, but it would be great to see what impact this is having before starting further.
I had a quick look at this calculator & it looked to be doing repayment not IO???? Or am i just being dim (more than possible :rotfl:)
Good luck with you MF quest!

Hi, yes it is that calculator. I am IO and have 9yrs 7 months left so use it as if I was on repayment, but to compare on IO I would put in the number of years remaining as 200 or 400 etc., keep playing around with the years until its the same repayment as you are paying on IO and then you can add you OP's to get an end date. Does that make sense? :D
