The diet starts today, 4 yrs ago I lost 1 3/4 stones , I lost it by cutting down to 1200 cals a day and lost it over 56 days (coincided with going back to school in sept and a halloween party we did).

From today there are 47 days until dh's 40th party, so I figure I should be able to lose 1 1/2 stones if I manage to stick to it. I have tried cutting down a bit /exercising which did not work, so this time I will be calorie counting and posting how I am doing here and fingers crossed that this time I can do it., where I failed before.

    Todays plans are:
    • Follow flylady,living room /kitchen today
    • 1 hour ironing........done
    • buy fil a birthday present..........done
    • cook a frugal low cal dinner........done
    • search for all toiletries for centerparcs.........found
    • surveys/daily clicks.........done
    • 2 hours work dh........done

I watched a programme about diets a couple of weeks ago. The programme had a lot of useful information in it, like:

    * don't cut out diary but swap to low fat dairy as you'll actually lose more weight that way.
    * whizz food in a blender. It will stay on your stomach longer and you won't feel as hungry.
    * eat lots of protein. It will keep you fuller for longer so less snacking.
    * when calorie counting people typically 'forget' what they ate. I sometimes count calories and don't think I forget!
    * use a smaller plate. We don't need to eat as much as we think.

I can't remember anything else. I hope you find this useful.

Thanks Peonie, I have been carefully counting cals today up to my target of 1200, then after 3 hours of resisting finally ate the one pack of crisps in the cupboard (mc coys as well- the worst!)

Still probably a lot less than I normally eat though :D

Everything on todays list got done except the cleaning, so I will carry that over to tomorows list.

    Tues:
    • clean kitchen/dining/hall/stairs/living room/landing.......bathroom and dd's room
    • bake bread.......er, bought it instead
    • try and get some sign up offers on tcb....yes- £3.05 cashback on £5 lottery-not that mse but I fancied a flutter for the first time in years!
    • daily surveys and clicks...done
    • try and find a dishwasher tablet hm alternative.......done

Have you tried cutting your normal dishwasher tablets in half to make them go further?? I must admit I've never tried it (sounds messy to me!!) but I've read on here that other people do it.

I use Aldi Magnum All in 1 complete dishwasher tablets (Good Housekeeping Institute approved 2012) ~ box of 40 for £3.99?? Definitely less than £4 anyway & sometimes on offer as well.

Good luck with losing weight ~ it's a struggle isn't it!!

What an idiot, I read the receipe to make it and put in washing soda instead of baking soda.It washed fine but the glasses were left cloudy, so I have bought some vinegar to try. To be honest I don't usually use the dishwasher so did'nt have any tabs in the house and thought i'd try and use up what I already have.

I'm a bit fed up tonight. I wanted as definate answer as it was possible to try and get re the mortgage, I rang the northern rock as they seem to be one of the more flexible providers and it had looked promising before with them. Anyway, spoke to advisor about dh's business accts. and the fact he has over 20% shares in the company thus making him self employed, and it turns out that his wages are basically irrelevant and they will only take profit into account. Of which for the last couple of years there are large losses whilst old debts are written off.

We are not looking to up sticks today, but I do feel quite deflated as it will definatly be years before we even have a chance of moving, not even somewhere dearer just moving in any shape or form, it seems a bit daft that we could'nt even downsize price wise if we want to.:(

Not sure what I should be doing next really, save to get the loft done /op ? I am worried that we won't be able to add to the mortgage at all to get the loft done if further down the line we struggle for space when they are big teenagers. At the moment I can't quite picture my 11 yr olds being that age but I know it will creep up on me very quickly as it did with dd.:D

Argh! I need a crystal ball.

    Hugs!!
I think I'd start saving to get the loft done and hope that things perk up a bit so you'll have a choice as to whether to move or improve!
I'm on a health kick at the moment and I'm doing a walking program. This week every other day is walking and you alternate the days with a 4 minute intensive exercise program.
The walk is one minute taking long strides then one minute short strides as fast as you can then one minute relaxed pace with abs pulled in. Repeat until you've done 21 minutes!
It is supposed to help with weight loss.
