I am in a great mood today, despite DH accidently ringing me on his way to work at 5am! So I have been up ages and looking on grabbit, where I found 95p tickets for a preview of diary of a wimpy kid next week, which one of my boys has been waiting to see since he found out about it last year :D Was beginning to think I was going to have to cheat with my summer entertainment budget as I only have about £20 left until they go back to school, and I did'nt want to disappoint him, I love this site :money:
I am hoping to go to the park today and meet up with friends with kids, so I am hoping it does'nt rain as its back to mine if it does and it not very tidy!

We have had a fairly boring weekend so far, stuck indoors as I have'nt been well. it has given me a chance to list some of DS2's bear factory clothes on ebay, which already have some bids,I must put some of my own stuff on there as well really, the kids get to keep the proceeds of what they sell!

The little tiny things i have done to make an effort this weekend are:
    • Made homemade pizza for dinner last night
    • no alcohol all weekend
    • one poll 20p
    • VO 50p
    • haven't spent as I have not been out
    • done lots of research on the cheapest hol for next summer that does not involve a tent:D
    • read lots of xmas threads on here to get some ideas, may do some hampers this year
I would still like to do a full list of people to buy for and a budget of whats left to buy ( already have quite a bit put away).
I'm trying to plan ahead as much as poss. as I think it works out costing less, but I won't be telling friends and family as they will think i'm mad!

i don't have much planned for this week, just meeting up with friends, and the cinema on sunday (95p bargin!), perhaps some trips to the park if it rains a bit less.

Ohhh, xmas hampers :) I think that getting as organised for xmas asap is a good idea, I always try to be organised just to reduce the stress nearer the time.

Feeling a bit better now although still not quite right. I went to the park and local shops today with a friend and her two kids, which was nice but quite cold. It feels like summer is over now and its only mid August, i think I might book next years summer holiday for Easter, I'm sure the weather will be as good as august!
I have not done anything MSE today, I bought ice creams, sweets and a nice curry for dinner, I'm in the mood for eating not moneysaving at the moment :p I have also spent a huge amount on lots of lovely toiletries to take on holiday next week, I am still in shock with how much it all cost and am too embarassed to say for fear of being banned from the MFW board for wasting money that would have been much better spent on the mortgage.

I still have no internet access except (like now) when I pinch DH's work laptop and dongle :D, sorry that sounded a bit cheeky!
Anyway I will hopefully be up and running again soon, I'm really missing going online.

Now you know we wouldn't ban you :) I've been spending loads lately and have got nothing to show for it, oh alright...there's a pretty dress and my tummy definitely got larger from all the food :o

I am not very organised at the moment, I have a very messy house and have got a list as long as your arm of things that need doing before I go away next week.I just don't seem to be at home for any length of time to do it, we keep getting invited to the park or round friends houses! I have got to go out again today to get DD's new PE kit embriodered and buy myself some last minute bits (knickers!) fro holiday. I am the only that has to buy the whole family new undies when they go away!
I have decided not to do a supermarker shop this week and just try and manage with the freezer and local shop around the corner, to be honest this is more laziness than moneysaving.
One good thing is the sun seems to be shining this morning, every time I hang out the washing at the moment it gets rained on, and I do have lots of washing backing up at the moment, I do miss my tumble dryer, and come to think of it I miss my old dishwasher too with the kids off school eating and drinking all day.

I now have the internet back so I shall try and get lots of jobs done today and then chill out this evening with a glass of wine and my laptop and have a good catch up with everyones diaries, OH will be home late and I'm going to put all the kids to bed early (hopefully).

Anyway, hope everyone has a great thursday.

Blimey, can't believe its been five days since I last posted. I have been busy running around getting jobs done before going away, still have tons to do though! I have not been very MSE lately as I have needed to buy so much stuff to take away, most of it new clothes and trainers for the kids , things that they either didn't have or had completly worn out. I had'nt realised how little I'd bought them so far this year :D Also needed to get lots of uniforms and 3 pairs of school shoes, DD's uniform has to be from a particular shop and is expensive so that did'nt help.
I had a quick look on the mortgage calculator last night and realised that my overpaying by £274 will pay the mortgage off in 9 yrs 9mths instead of twelve years,
I don't know why but for some reason I was thinking it was more like 8 years, so I tried out the figures to see how much I would have to OP per month to pay it off in 8yrs.

    £620.00 per month OP!

To knock off 1 yr and 9 months I would have to find another £346 a month to acheive this. So I am feeling a little deflated, we still don't know if we can OP at all after may next year as OH won't get the share dividends he got ( that we are OPing with ) this year.

We also want to get the loft converted at some point as we would like another toilet and bedroom, Oh could to some of the work himself but it would still be probably close to £20K all in all, plus he does not want to do it himself, so it would cost more like £28K

Its really hard, because to be honest we were going to pay off the mortgage and probably move on to something a bit bigger, but I have been thinking about it and even if we manage to pay it off in 10 years the kids will be adults and we are less likely to need the space. Houses where we live are very expensive, our house is worth about £230K but a 3 bed semi (ours is terrace) can go for anything from £300k up to £650K in the nicer roads.

I'm thinking that it would be better for the kids if we had the loft converted so they could have a room each, but on the other hand the thought of spending all that money and the mortgage taking longer to pay off is really scary.
I think if we did have the loft done it would increase the value of the house by the same amount, and we would possibly not move again. Although its not my dream house I love the area and have lots of friends and family close by. I don't think I would want to take out another huge mortgage once we have paid this one off.

So I guess I'm trying to decide whether to get the loft done or not in the near future, I think I need to give it some more thought.

OOPs have just seen how long this post is , sorry all!
