Agree, mines £86 pm for both and there are 7 of us in a 3 bed semi. Someone is at home 24/7
Thanks for posting that. It's interesting looking at other peoples incomings/outgoings and yours looks somewhat tight but you have thought of everything.I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
Newgirly we ditched sky a while ago now after having it for years and years, we had all three services from them - phone, broadband and the telly but we didn`t go with the line rental as i`d heard horror stories about switching if we had taken it.
We went for freesat from sky which is basically the same as freesat with a couple of extra channels. At first we used the old sky box and viewing card, if you have the white viewing card then you won`t need a new one despite what you will get told on the phone.
There is no subscription for this and we`ve found that its very good, we saved the money from the subs in a tub and when we had almost £200 we bought a HD humax box with a built in HD which is like a sky plus box without the subscription. Would never go back to sky now, we record all sorts of stuff so there is always something good to watch and we still get a good amount of choice/channels. Admittedly it wasn`t quite as good without the new box as sometimes there wasn`t always programs on that we wanted to watch but now its actually better than before.

I know my gas and Elec is quite high, but last year it was £170 per month  we have since had a new boiler put in after ours died though so it has gone down.
I did get an energy monitor which showed that I need to switch off the numerous I pods and phones left on charge or plugged in for days at a time, and I have to stop DH filling the kettle to the brim to make one cup of coffee!
The other confession is we have a hot tub in the back garden. but it only uses about £10 per month and the kids love it!
other than that I don't know where it goes, I have not put the heating on yet.
Thanks for the info on the sky box sunnyday, I will definatly look into that, DH will love the idea of the HD one as well, I could probably talk him into saving up his money and buying it :rotfl:
i'm off to Mrt's as i've got a £10 off voucher to use this week, have a good day everyone.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
thanks for the SOA, I am always amazed at how much people pay out but you have the income coming in to match.
I am also thinking of getting a freesat box with HD as I like some of the stuff on sky one and sometimes there is nothing at all on and then a few good things at the same time grr. I just cant justify the cost just for tv programmes at the moment. I havent had sky for years.
I like the weekly pay as it means you get the extra week every now and then like you say. Obviously mine is only a quarter of yours lolMPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

A hot tub in the back garden!!!
Ohhhhhhh....how niceIt'll only take me about 2.5 hours to get to yours
Grabs swimming costume and car keys......
P.S On a more sensible note we have Freesat and the HD Humax box that Sunny has (after cancelling Sky) and are very happy with it. We only miss Sky when our friends start talking about Sky only programmes that we liked.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

I'm soooo envious of your ... hot tub in the garden... We want one and I thought it would cost a lot more than that to run.
Interesting about the box , I will look into that too - thanksI can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
I have just looked into freesat and they dont have three of the channels that I love to watch the most on freeview, fiver /five usa / sky 3 so I wont be buying that any time soon.MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

My sky is being checked by an engineer on tues, I'm hoping for a free new box, then I might go for the sky that is free with a one off £25 payment for a new card. on the other hand there will be lots of things I'll want to watch on the run up to xmas , so maybe should wait until new year to cancel.
