yay on the tv!! but I get you about not wanting to give stuff to your friend for fear they will bankrupt themselves buying you a pressie to make up! ;o) seriously though, how lovely...
sorry to hear about DHs friend, makes you realise how short life is and how quickly things can change for all of us ...
I have joined topcashback but not used it yet...was thinking of using it really for pressies at xmas/birthdays and renewal for insurance...I might look into some days out for the holidays though as OH has some time off coming up!...that can be tomorrows task..0 -
Hi gemdave, there lots of survey sites, i do one poll which is very quick, valued opinions and lightspeed, but there are others, pammyj74 has a great thread and does reviews as well.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Surely paying off the mortgage should be made a priority over any Credit Cards you may have.
First of all the interest in cash terms is likely to be highest on the mortgage so paying this off first would mean you are likely to save more cash.
And secondly the mortgage is secured against your home where as the credit cards are not so clearing the mortgage quicker would safeguard your home in case of financial hardship.0 -

No, not in my opinion. You should read Martins "Should I pay off my mortgage guide" which I found really helpfulCurrently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

I agree too, there is always the chance that when your o% deal runs out you may not be able to get another good rate. I am doing both at the moment, the c/c and the mortgage.
I have had a result with this weeks grocery shop. On the grabbit board this morning I saw a £5 off lidl voucher, so i thought I'd give them a go again as I have not shopped there for ages. I managed to get loads for £41 (after using my voucher), and even found £1 someone had left in the trolleyThey had some good offers inluding a cabbage for 10p.
I did a lightspeed survey today and noticed I have enough points for a £10 paypal, so I will request that later today, and stick it in the VSP. I have topped up the sealed pot today (xmas) with £21.00.
I have decided to go alcohol free for a while, one to save money and two to try and cut down the calories a bit, so hopefully that will help a bit.
the only other MFW thing I have done is 2 one poll surveys today.
I am definatly going to have to learn how to sell on ebay as we seem to be drowning in stuff at the moment!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Im with you on needing to learn to ebay...my pile of "stuff I will sell on ebay one day" seems to be growing without me actually getting around to doing anything about it.... doh!0 -
Oh newgirly, you've just reminded me to go and have a look at the grabbit board - thanks for that! I tend to go to Aldi to stock up atm (esp for cranberry juice as DH is brewing cider)I have decided to go alcohol free for a while, one to save money and two to try and cut down the calories a bit, so hopefully that will help a bit.

I have decided to divert the lightspeed £10 to my current acc, as I have ordered my grans b'day pressie online, I forgot to allow for that this month.
I have also failed miserably on the alcohol free front. I am currently sipping a glass of red, (sorry smlsave!)
I can't wait until monday when I can make Augusts OP, I am going to give DH a mini speech each month in the hope that he may become a little more interested!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Hi Danny, I think what I really meant was a not a mini speech but a long "why we should spend all our money on the mortgage" lecture!
Either way, DH has agreed to let me deal with everything, which is ok until I start saying no to his wanting a sports car for his birthday:rotfl:
The trouble is I have always done the finances (really really badly up until now), and we have never had any money but always bought whatever we wanted really. So now DH is is earning more money than before but we are spending less and paying everything off for once, but I think to him it feels like we are doing without.
I seriously think we would have carried on the same way without this site :money:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
