Well its raining and we are all bored today!
So far this week all I have spent from the holiday fun budget is £2.99 on cookies when I took the boys and their friend for a free warhammer lesson. So I still have £97.01 left. I was hoping to take the kids out today to the cinema for a sat morning cheapo, but they have already seen all the films. OH is working today and tomorrow, so we are well and truely fed up. I think I might take them all out for a Mc D's for lunch just to get out of the house for a bit.
I have ordered a couple of xmas presents that I don't have the money for at the moment so will have to steal back some of my VSP money, but I did get them very cheap, one was from the grabbit board! (really must stop going on there!)
I have ordered an amazon voucher from VO for surveys done, so will put that towards xmas too. I'm not sure what I will do with my first £40 from onepoll (only on about£18) but was thinking I may ask for a cheque and frame it, I feel like i've been doing those surveys for years!
I think I will check back in this afternoon and read a few diaries to see if I can get a bit more inspiration.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I have made this months OP of £274 on the mortgage today, and the 0% CC payment came out as well (£202.50), so I have updated my signature :j
Total mortgage owing today:
£157,854.32
Total CC:
£8797.50
TOTAL: £166,651.82
so new total paid off since may 17th 2010 is £4187.29
New interest per day is £14.83, I am 2p per day richer now yay!:rotfl:
We have been in all day today as DD was sick all night last night (after we went to a BBQ!) So we stayed in and I did some baking, a big ciabatta loaf, cookies and a white loaf, we also popped some corn, Yum.
Anyway the really big success of the day is I managed to start selling on EBay, I have listed one of the kids old PS2 games, its a start I suppose. The kids are all really keen to get rid of their old things, that could be something to do with them making a bit of extra cash though.
I haven't looked at surveys for the last couple of days, but I did start reading the thread on matched betting late last night.
Has anyone else looked at that here? It seems so complicated I am sure I would muck it up so I think I'd better stick to the simpler ways to make a bit extra.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Hi Newgirly, well done with the overpayments and the ebaying. I too am dipping my toes into the latter, but rather spoiled it this morning by only selling one small item and then getting seduced by a lovely dress, shoes and matching bag... (meaning my paypal account ran at a net loss today) :rotfl: still!!!
I'm like you with the matched betting - I want to work out how to do it, but haven't quite got it yet. Actually, let's be honest here, I haven't got it at all, despite trying.... So if you do manage to suss it out, please write about it!!

I have not posted for a few days as its been so hectic with the kids at home, and have been chatting to DH in evening about his work problems. I have not had a very MSE week really, mainly due to a £100 vets bill yesterday for the dog who has had an upset stomach probably due to eating something non edible!
I have also spent a bit of money on myself on clothes for holiday from Mr T, which did have to be done as old stuff doesn;t fit any more, but to be honest it has cheered me up a bit, as I have not really been looking forward to the holiday that much which is not like me really.
I am beginning to get a liittle worried about DH's wages as he is saying that we probably won't be getting a lump sum next year as he has re- instated overtime there won't be a lot of profit, it is the fairest way but it means that he has taken over running the place and is on less money for even more stress, we will also have to pay a fairly large tax bill at the beginning of the year for the first time, so i'm not sure what to do really, I don't want to stop OP the mortgage and I have the money set aside to cover all OP's until may next year, but no money set aside for tax bill.
I think there is a chance he will pay out a lump sum at xmas to help with this but I don't know. I can only Op 20% per monthly payment, and to be honest I feel if I stop now I might lose all enthusiasum for being MF, its been going so well.
I think I will carry on as I am for the moment and try to save seperatly for this, and put any extra money into a saving ACC instead of paying any excess into the 0% cc.
We only have a few hundred in savings ( I know, I know), but in the last year we have had a new boiler fitted and have got rid of our two cars for one brand new cheap to run car, so those were the two main things we worried about being very expensive to replace. So I think I need to build up a bit of savings.
My willpower has never been very good when it comes to money, so I think I wanted to throw myself in at the deep end by OP the mortgage, and to be honest it has worked and I don't want to go out spending as a leisure activity like I was before, I want to pay off the mortgage instead!
One thing that may have to be put on ice is DH's 40th mini cruiseI can't really be saving for that now, will have to wait and see how things pan out. I think I will still book a cheap family hol for next summer though, probably the isle of wight site which was about £360 for a week for a caravan. My target will be to pay for the hol and spending from my new pass time of Ebaying! I have a whole loft full of stuff and the kids rooms are bursting at the seams, si money to be found there.
The £100 summer fun budget has been going dowm mainly because of a mc D's at the weekend and givind DD £10 yesterday to go out to cinema. Today we are going for the long awaited trip to see toy story with friends, however I think they want to see it in 3d which is another £8 on top, so I think that might be most of my budget gone! why is the cinema so expensive now?MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Well, I have so far managed to do 35p of one poll surveys today, got screened out in a few others.
I have checked out the entertainment budget and its down to £23 for the rest of the holidays, so will have to be extra carefull now,
We did go to toy story3 yesterday which was fantastic but very expensive with lunch and sweets as well. So I need to keep the costs down , i have not done a proper shop this week but only have about £19 left so will have to stretch out what we already have, so I might do some baking today.
I am going to carry on as I have been trying to OP the mortgage for the moment, I will try to save as well, but thinking about it I don't know if we will be able to OP at all next year, so I guess every little bit helps now. I did ring the chelsea yesterday to ask if the op's can be borrowed back at a later date and the answer was unfortunatly no, which is shame as it would have made things a bit easier if we do come unstuck.
I just need to try and stay positive as we are overpaying not borrowing more at the moment, so that can only be a good thing.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I have been without internet for days now but have finally got sorted, yay! I have just posted off our first sold ebay item, sold a ps2 game for £3.01 plus £1 postage,so DS quite happy , although postage was £1.51 not including the envelope so I think I need to up that a little bit next time.
I am going to have a look around for some other things today to list, probably mainly games and clothes. I have done no surveys so if I get the chance I will check my emails later, must try to keep up with those as have not been doing hardly any at the moment.
I should also cancel the love film subscription as we have not been using it really, so that will save £3.99 per month.
I have not spent any more of the summer budget yet this week as we have been in all week, except the boys who were taken to an aeroplane museum yesterday which they loved. Blimey have just realised its only Tues, feels like I've been stuck in for a week!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Hi newgirly
I have just read your diary from the start and this has given me the inspiration to look seriously at trying to overpay on my mortgage. I have just moved my mortgage to a new lender with a lower interest rate. I have had to put all of my debts onto the mortgage to do this, except one credit card debt, which I did not want to do however it was the only way to reduce my outgoings.
So... I have signed up on here and over the next few days will get myself sorted and start my own diary to help me to pay my mortgage off earlier.
Thanks newgirlyMortgage Balance at start July 2010 - £170,000.00

Hi daydreamer girl, I suppose reading my diary is one way to help you get to sleep at night! There are lots of great diaries on here, with tons of good ideas that I'm sure will help you. It took me a little while to get to the point when I actually wanted to pay everything off. I had thought about it many times any even tried halfheartedly to make a start, as I felt I should, but thought we couldn't really afford to overpay. But coming on the MFW site has really opened my eyes, you don't have to go without completely, but think about everything you buy, and maybe even save up to get those treats you used to take for granted.
Good luck, I will keep an eye out for your diary.
I still have'nt done any surveys as internet is constantly cutting out, have spent hours trying to sort it this week, currently on a borrowed computer!
So I have also not ebayed anything else yet. I did a big shop yesterday and overspent, buying lots of treats, wine, cake etc. but felt like DH and I needed cheering up, his friend is very poorly now and DH is quite upset, and doing lots of visiting after work so is tired out.
The kids have not done much this week , the boys are round a friends this morning and I am taking them all to games workshop this afternoon for a free lesson, and maybe another dinner out if they are good!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Hey newygirl,
Nice to see your still doing so well. If you need any help with Mbetting let me know. I had a look at it and made some fairly decent profits. When things have settled back down for me think I will give it another go as there are still a few sites for me to have a go at.

Thanks babysteps, I may look at matched betting again when the kids are back at school and I get a bit of peace and quiet, by the time they have all settled down for the night I am exhausted, they seem to need less sleep than me! It seems quite tricky though, so any help would be gratefully receivedMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
