The last three holidays have been on tesco clubcards when points were fantastic and you could pay for your whole holiday with them. It used to be my hobby to get as many points as I could. Now they are dwindling I am looking at getting a caravan somewhere here for next summer. Hoseasons have a caravan for the last week in August next year in North Wales for just £255 (+£21 insurance) so this is on my maybe list. I think we might want night entertainment which we have to be careful not going in the summer hols properly, some of their sites finish the week before we want to go. :(

Hi Pammy, I am also looking at that very last week in August, I have a friend with five kids aged 9-15, who have been to a great site on the isle of wight a few times, which has evening entertainment, pools etc. so I may give that a go, I think it is about £360 for an 8 berth that week(caravan), and all the reviews seemed good which makes a change for a caravan park! I don't think I am allowed to put the address on here though am I?

I imagine you can? If you cant then PM me and I'll take a look :) Do you have to consider the ferry crossing as well? I would like to go to Isle of Wight one day too.

Hi Pammy, the address is www. islandviewholidays .co.uk I spread it out just in case! The park I am looking at is Rookley park, the ferry is not included in the price but I know you used to be able to pay with clubcard vouchers for the isle of wight ferry, as far as I know you still can. I think I may have another look on the site as well and see how much the deposit would be;)

Morning everyone, Its mortgage payment day so I'm posting my new figure, I will do it again in a few days when Ipay the OP for August and the massive new monthly payment on my new 0% CC as well,

    Balance at 1st July £159,038.14

    Balance at 28th July :

    £158,068.88,
Plus 0% CC £9000 so new total is:

    £167,068.

    Daily interest is now £14.85

I can't tell you haw pleased I am that we have managed this since may, even I wasn't sure if we would actually make any OP's , I think in the last fifteen years together we have steadily borrowed the whole time never paying anything back ( or if we did borrowing more again!), I can't believe how easy it is sometimes, to not waste money without feeling like you are going without.
I haven't spent any of the £100 kids holiday treat fund yet, they had three friends over for the day yesterday, tiring but cheap! today we are going to the games workshop for a free painting session, they take their figures and use the shops paint for free.
DD is going round a friends this afternoon, so she is occupied, if only I could muster up the energy to clean my house and begin the challenge of the mountain of ironing everything would be going great:D

Have spent lots of time this morning goung through accounts and have just requested my first topcashback payment of £67.35, plus found that my old cc company had taken out £25 after i had settled in full, so i've had that refunded, plus OH sold something he had been given and didn't want, so I'm using that to buy DD's new school bits. So i have managed to get together a total of £182.79, I have transfered it into my VSP, the total is now £603.25. (Car and house insurance to come out of that as well), I am going to try and save enough in the pot to pay the deposit for DH's 40th birthday treat, hopefully a short cruise without the kids ( mean I know! )
I feel a bit guilty spending money on something like this, but DH has had a terrible time recently, and taken over from his best friend running the business, (best friend is terminally ill), so I really want to do something special for his 40th in 2012.

On a brighter note, we gave our old leather sofa to another of Dh's friends, and also a very nice double bed, (which we were offered by a friend of my dad but didn't need), and I insisted we did not want any money as we had not even bought them, anyway he turned up last night with a brand new LCD TV for us to give DD for xmas, he knew I had been looking for a cheap one for her lately. I can't believe he has been so generous, its a really lovely samsung one DD will love it. I did tell him we won't give him anything in the future though, if hes going to do that !:p
Best go now as the troops are getting hungry.

  • Hello
You mentioned on here about getting paid for Doing surveys and reviews. this would be ideal for me with 2 small kids.
Can you possibly point me in the right direction.
    Thanks:o

Good luck on being MF. Have a look at all the challenges on here (see my sig!)
Also try and look at your outgoings and see what you can save by changing suppliers and insurance (going through cashback sites etc)

Do you work full time? I work part time and in the evenings I do surveys and reviews etc to gain some extra cash.

Definitely watch what you are spending and ONLY buy things if you really need to and have the money for already (not on CC)
Join Freecycle if you need anything just ask, someone may have it for you (I got a breadmaker the other day and have had a childs bike)

Set yourself a target to OP each year (mine is £3k)

Maybe see about decluttering and doing a carboot now they have started again?

Once you start OPing it will become an obsession!

    Good Luck x
