(no tv in our apartment!) we went to the airport and cannot fault Easyjet: They re booked us onto a flight this morning and put us up in the meantime, paying for everything. We flew this morning on time, no problem. So flights are back on - for the moment.
Glad they sorted things out for you - did you have to chase them or did they keep in contact with you? So far my daughter has heard nothing.0 -
I am off to Madrid on Friday evening from London City Airport. I haven't book accommodation yet and don't want to unless I know we are definitely going.. Flight is currently showing as confirmed but that could change of course.. all the news reports are on the big airports so not sure how London City is coping...
Thanks

Cityboy: thanks for the update -- I've not had time to read / digest the ancillary material on the other thread so will do so now. Hopefully it will be possible to see all the combined wisdom of folks like you easily accessible in one place!
Again, sincere thanks: you lot have been running a regular Financial First Aid station on here, attending to people victimised first by circumstance and then by the greedy and unscrupulous.
Hero medals all round!

We have booked to fly to Malaga on Saturday to stay with a friend, unfortunately her previous visitors are unable to leave until the 29th April which after the time we should be there we therefore have no accommodation having finally contacted Monarch they will not allow us to cancel our flights without losing all our money, they will only allow us to change the dates ! Not much use to us as our friend is now coming home ! You would have thought they would have shown a bit of leniency but no such luck !0

Not sure if this has already been posted but thought it may be of use to someone.

For the interest of any other pedants out there:
As far as I can see, Pelican is entirely right in her(?) original post, but to expand on this little detail.
EC Regulation No. 261/2004 which is being discussed in this thread >is< also a UK law, by virtue of The Civil Aviation (Denied Boarding, Compensation and Assistance) Regulations 2005, a Statutory Instrument. The effect of the Statutory Instruments Act 1946 (as amended) is to turn all SIs including this one into UK laws.0 -
I am having problems with Holiday Gems-now they dont even answer any of thier phones I just want to get my money backIf you have travel insurance (and you should) call them - not only may they pay but they have advice and assistance services that can advise.
Same with Expedia claims, call your insurers, they can help (if they are half decent!).0 -
Direct Travel have changed their homepage to advise this now, might help some:
Direct Travel Insurance is treating the ash cloud event as "weather related”. We are therefore able to offer cover for customers, who purchased policies on or before Tuesday 13th April, under the following sections (subject to policy limitations):- Section 7 Missed Departure and
- Section 8 Delayed Departure or Abandonment
If you are stranded abroad, Direct Travel Insurance may cover the costs you have incurred within the limits of your policy.
If you would like to make a claim, please ensure that you follow the standard claims procedure and provide all relevant supporting documentation. The following links should help::money: giving me & my darling boys a better cheaper life

I booked my travel package through expedia. I've been trying to contact them since Sunday (our trip was supposed to start on Monday but was cancelled). I've sent emails, i've tried calling but nothing - according to their website i'm 'currently on my holiday'. The cheek!
Has anyone had any luck with expedia.co.uk?? I want to know if I'll get a refund!0 -
