    We booked the hotel through expedia and flights through easyjet themselves.
    We were on hold for an hour the other ady and then they picked up in 10 mins yesterday which i think was luck!
    They were meant to be phoning back at 1.15 but have not yet.

    If you want to stick rigidly to the regs

    "(b) hotel accommodation in cases
    - where a stay of one or more nights becomes necessary, or
    - where a stay additional to that intended by the passenger becomes necessary;
    (c) transport between the airport and place of accommodation (hotel or other)."

    No self catering, no car hire, just a hotel, and one trip there and back.

    Apologies if this has already been asked, I've got limited internet access time wise.
    Our problem is.....
    Currently in Miami. Return flights from Newcastle(UK) to Paris then Paris to Miami both with Air France.
    Due to return leaving Miami tomorrow(Tuesday), at 1740hrs local time. The same flight leaving today has just changed and instead of flying to Paris is now flying to Marseille.
    If airspace opens tomorrow over France and UK then our problem is hopefully resolved but if not my question is....do we have to accept the flight to Marseille without any connecting flight to Newcastle? Want to go home but to be honest I'd rather be stranded here than Marseille with the kids.

    Not sure legally - but I would guess you don'yt HAVE to accept alternative route if it may not get you to your intended destination. See link to FCO in my above post and contact British Consulate (I think one in Miami, if not there is one here in Orlando).

    So I have a booking to travel to NYC from Manchester on Saturday (Continental) booked through expedia, which includes an 'Expedia Special Rate' hotel stated as non-refundable, which although not booked simutaneously, appear as part of the same itinerary when I log into expedia's website.

    Am I right in thinking that if the flight does not go ahead, that I will still NOT be entitled to any refund on my hotel?


    +++ Oh and what are Expedia playing at? Their last update on this chaos was 16 April !!!

    Non-Refundable means NO REFUNDS ! ! ! You want cheap bookings but you dont want the risks! Thats what you get on these cheap booking sites.

    BY THE AIR CARRIER! Legally (if you really want to get into it) you have to prove someone is to blame in order to claim any sort of compensation. The Airlines did not make this decision therefore they are not to blame.

    Cityboy - You have given YOUR opinion, I have given mine and leave it at that. Anyone else reading this (will be bored to death) are big enough to consider BOTH opinions and make THEIR OWN conclusions.

    Hi vinylmusic... we were due to fly home Friday from LAX (my husband with Air France and me & my daughter with Air Canada - long story to do with purchasing tickets with Airmiles) and when we arrived at the airport my husband was told by Air France check-in staff that his flight was cancelled and they just re-booked him onto the next available flight which is supposed to be Wednesday. I can't see that it will be though. Air Canada have booked me and my daughter onto flights on Saturday, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

    I guess we are lucky that we were able to come back to my sister's house in San Diego. Hope you manage to get some answers from the Air France desk at LAX.

    Good ol' BA - It needed someone to start to clarify! I agree what you put above. Like ailine pilots wanting to fly below the cloud!
    Some small business are going to be hit hard by this. Even we here are suffereing in a way, all US international mail is now Air Mail and therfore all our letters/bills are stuck. We are a huge company - I feel for the small business owners (like the airline on radio 2 this afternoon, one plane stuck in Europe somewhere)

  • I am stuck in California with my father and my daughter after our flight was cancelled on Friday. The earliest flight we can get guaranteed seats on is 5 May! We are on a waiting list for Tuesday if the airports are open the. I have contacted my insurance company - Protect Your Bubble - mentioned on this site and have had an e-mail from them this morning stating that I am not covered to claim for a delay as this event is not specified in their policy. I have looked at the policy and it is not mentioned in the exclusions so I am going to complain about this. I am in a fortunate situation as I am staying with my sister and not running up huge hotel bills. However, I think the insurance company should pay out. I do not think I am covered by EU law as I am not currently in the EU and our airline is Air Newzealand which is not an EU carrier. If anyone else has any advice regarding my insurance claim it would be welcome. Many thanks
