  • Spoke with Virgin customer services today, first lady put me on hold:mad::mad: when I got through to 2nd lady 2 hours 23 minutes had passed, due to the present situation I didn't think this was bad to be honest I was so pleased to speak with someone who was so kind and willing to help with this awful situation.:T

My daughter and her friend were due to depart San Francisco for Heahtrow Airport today, within minutes kind CS lady changed their flights to Friday,:j (confirmation email received within 10 minutes) and informed me they must go to the airport today meet with the Virgin Rep who will give them accommodation details, all meals (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner) will also be included.:j

Keeping my fingers crossed this will all materialize, will know definate outcome approx 10pm (2pm San Francisco time).
No so - daughter and friend at airport - Virgin Rep informs them flight cancellation is nothing to do with the airline handed them a list of hotels (some 5* totally out of their price bracket they have been staying in hostels). Told them to fight their corner and quote the 'Care For' policy which has been put on here CityBoy (who is a legend). Keeping fingers crossed.

Hi - Air France has confirmed that my flights have been cancelled and there won't be any flights to Hong Kong until Sat! They told me I have to claim a refund via Expedia - does anyone know how long we have to reclaim - as I can't get through to anyone on Expedia's tel. no (was on hold for 2 hours with no joy).

    Hi guys,

    HELP!!!

I am due to fly from Leeds Bradford Airport to Girona on Monday the 19th April with Ryanair at 13.55pm. Ryanair have cancelled flights until 13.00 on this day, however it looks increasingly unlikely that there'll be any flights on Monday.

I am a little unsure of what to do, I have tried contacting my tour operator and Ryanair for advise both by telephone and email without any success. I feel like I am limbo, as I am sure a lot of people do.

It says on my online account on Ryanair that my flights are to be changed and to log-in to that section of the site to change flights however on this page it says that i cannot change flights as i have already checked in. Further I do not want to change flights really if by some miracle they do happen to operate.

Also what happens should there be no flights on Monday at all, am i entitled to a full refund from my tour operator (Sun4u). Should I continue to try and contact them prior to my flight or wait until after it has been cancelled.

Four years I have been waiting for a holiday! I sense that this may be my fault, things like this always seem to happen to me!... sorry guys!

    x
i am sorry but that made me giggle... crazy things happen to me all the time too.. but this is the first time that my flight may get cancelled...

    Hi,
Have been reading this thread with interest-thank you to those helpful people who have been posting! I was booked to fly out of California today, obviously my flight was cancelled. Luckily, I managed to get through to Delta Airlines last night, who changed my flights to Thursday. My question is this: I booked my flight through STA Travel, and am travelling predominantly on KLM flights (with a short Delta flight to LA-hence being able to call them to change my flight.) Since KLM are a European Airline, am I entitled to any assistance? I have free accomidation, as I'm staying with someone, but what about meals etc?
Should I try and phone KLM, or leave the lines free for those more needy than myself and try and claim when I get home?

    Thanks for any advice :)

  • Unfortunately I won't be travelling out to the Maldives tomorrow! However, I feel that Monarch/Cosmos have acted in the best interest of their passengers by cancelling/suspending all flights tomorrow.

I do have a question regarding my rights though; I'm on a package holiday with Cosmos as the tour operator - the flight has been 'suspended indefinitely' and they are willing to offer a change of date/holiday - they say I can contact them to 'discuss cancellation terms'. I'm just trying to confirm that I am entitled to a full refund and if there's any exclusions from this? I booked through purpleholidays; am I entitled to a refund of their booking costs and the credit card charges as far as anyone knows?

The Package Tour Regs 1992 Section 13, Part 2 (c) state:
    (c) to have repaid to him as soon as possible all the monies paid by him under the contract.
I just need to find out what is considered paid under contract and if anything isn't?

I know it's not really an issue compared to what most people are going through but I just wanted to check my rights.

    Thanks,
    Matt

  • i am so sorry to hear of everyone's problems

can i just ask a quick question? (not that it matters for me- no flights etc)

the euro regulations being quoted here say 'rebook or re-route' surely there must be a limit on that? i mean if you're in italy trying to get back to the uk, you surely can't say- ok i'll go to las vegas instead??

hope you all get home safe x

re-route normally means get you to your destination by a different route. So you could do new york to london via glasgow if scottish airspace was open.
