Thanks for that pelican.
so basically if there are no restriction on the flight i should be entitled to compensation then.Cover me in honey and fling me to the hermaphrodites!0 -

OK, why does article 9 apply, but article 7 not.
I'm not being awkward here, I would just like to know.0 -
Well first thing to do is be ready for what happens on monday, so be ready to print off a record of other aircraft take offs/landings from the airports that your flight was going to take at similar times. Airport websites may help so google them ready for monday.
i will definately be taking notes of any aircraft heading from liverpool towards the canary islands on monday. I'm sure ryanair will try to wriggle out of compensation but i shall be hot on them!
just a daft question is Gran Canaria actually part of the EC?Cover me in honey and fling me to the hermaphrodites!0 -

From Article 5(3): An operating air carrier shall not be obliged to pay compensation in accordance with Article 7, if it can prove that the cancellation is caused by extraordinary circumstances which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken.
This specifically excludes compensation in extraordinary circumstances but importantly, doesn't exclude care.0 -

Basically, but you will have to take into account that, say, if your flight was at 11:00 and the restriction was lifted at 10:30, it probably wouldn't be viewed as reasonable to compensate you.
This is the best move to make sure you have a good case for compensation.blue_haddock wrote: »i will definately be taking notes of any aircraft heading from liverpool towards the canary islands on monday.
Doesn't matter as the flight starts in the EC.blue_haddock wrote: »just a daft question is Gran Canaria actually part of the EC?0 -

so basically i'm looking at spending most of monday tracking whats going in and out of liverpool airport - what fun!
also if there are no flights from other carriers to the canaries on that day from liverpool would flights from say manchester, east midlands and birmingham be ok as evidence?Cover me in honey and fling me to the hermaphrodites!0 -

I'm sure they probably would. The onus is technically on the airlines to prove exceptional circumstances but it is good to have ammunition in case of a dispute.
I'm not sure how good flightstats.com is for tracking flights round your neck of the woods but it might make life easier for you as it keeps long-term records of whether flights were on-time/cancelled/whatever.0 -

Exactly, there should be a good number of flights from the north-west going to the canaries as it is Gran Canaria's LPA change over day for holidays.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
BA has cancelled all flights from/to London for tomorrow0
