After recently having plucked up the courage to register with a Doctor here, and finding him kind and sympathetic, we now find that he has been moved from our village practice!
Something to do with him stating 'political views' I believe, my Spanish isn't good enough to pick out all the finer points.
The Doctor my husband saw today wasn't anywhere near as nice (However, he'd been sent here at short notice he was probably just p****d off).
Apparently there is a petition going around the village to get Dr Gomez back....we'll have to find where it is and sign it.
.
UPDATE: We have been told today by Dr Gomez himself (we met him at a Fiesta) that we can go to see him in his new practice in a different village . We don't have to go to the Dr in our village.
That's really good, we liked him so much and haven't really taken to the new Doctor (although I'm sure he is fine). We're so pleased.
Dr Gomez is standing for Mayor, he is standing against the Bank Manager who is Mayor at the moment. The Bank Manager has done a good job, but I hope Dr Gomez gets in!
Anyway, we're happy bunnies today.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Resurrected this thread to say...
the process has started all over again!
My husband has just sent his IB 50 off , endorsed by our new Doctor Luna (Doctor Gomez is the mayor now and is not 'doctoring' at the moment).
So...watch this space!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

It's almost a year since above post - just wondering how you're doing?
I've just found this forum & finding it very informative, My husband and myself are both on IB and would like to move to Spain - one of my husband's problems is Raynaud's disease which causes him huge pain in cold weather.
We already have a holiday home there but haven't registered with a Doctor. I've spoken to a friend who exported her IB a few years ago with no trouble at all but I'm wondering if it will be as straightforward now that so much seems to have changed and there's a new campaign against so-called benefit thieves in Spain :eek:0 -
Would you believe, although it's a year since the last post and my husband has had a medical ....and has heard nothing! He had his medical the end of April!
Will have to see if his IB goes in the bank on the right day.
Thanks Cassie for your interest and for your pm.
As far as I know things haven't changed. Good luck with your move.
I assume you know that if your husband is on IB he will be covered for free Spanish Healthcare, and if you are his dependent, so will you.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

We both receive IB - I have a long term neurological condition, amongst other things!
I'm very nervous about starting the whole process though, reading some of the posts on this forum it seems that the DWP are making things as difficult as possible at the moment!0 -
Tell the DWP you are moving to Spain as they will have to transfer your notes to the overseas dept. You will both get an E121 form from the DWP. When you apply for your Spanish residency, take these to the local INSS (Social Security Office) and they will register it there. They will probably give you temporary Health Cards and send the permanent ones through the post, although this varies between provinces (as everything else does in Spain!).
You will both be entitled to free Healthcare and Prescriptions in Spain for as long as you are on the Benefit, and also after State Retirement age.
Good luck!
(My husband still has not had the results of his medical, but his IB is being paid OK.)(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Can we move almost straight away - which we would be able to as we have family out there who can help us - or do we have to wait for them to make a decision first?
I'd like to get settled before the really cold weather starts.0 -
Yes, you can move; we had been in Spain a few months before we even applied for ours.(AKA HRH_MUngo)
