The BT Voyager 2100 (which the OP said they had) is an ADSL modem / router

Ahh right, I didnt check that...... OP should just have to log in to the router then and input screenname/password etc and it should just connect, and then transmit the internet over wireless.
EDIT - The router login will need to be screenname and the @aol.com bit, and the other settings if you need them are PPPoA, 0/38 & 1400MTU0 -

I assume that this is when connecting using wireless. What happens when you connect to your router using an Ethernet cable? If this works connect both computers to the router using cable. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Is your laptop showing that it is connected to the wireless network though?0 -
Wired or wireless it doesn't matter
The router is showing "Ready to Connect to Broadband" and not "You are connected to Broadband"
Until this is fixed then the internet access will not work! Does anyone know if AOL have any peculiar settings required on an ADSL modem/router0 -

Have you tried factory resetting the router and starting again, sounds silly but you mentioned it was bought off e-bay so a setting might have been played around with.
From what I've read other than a different firmware being needed for AOL which you say you have applied, nothing special is needed to access AOL via this method.
One thing someone kept mentioning on one site though was your password needs to be 8 characters long??
On the Voyager 2100 there is a Status section in the Advanced bit. One of the things to look at is the "Internet" area. This should tell you at the far right of the line the reason for not being connected (Authentication Failure etc)
If you can't find it I'll dig out a full step by step to get to it (going by memory of savvy's router ATM)0 -

That is irrelevant if your router is not actually connected to AOL.
Enter http:/192.168.1.1 into IE and what do you see.
If you don't see:
Your BT Voyager is connected to Broadband and you can now surf the Internet.
you are not connected! You need set this up using a logical step by step approach!
