When you set up your router it will ask u for your screen name. Make sure you add on the @aol.com bit at the end. Also if your using aol you may need to change the MTU value to 1400 or you wont connect to certain sites.0

then
can you ping 127.0.0.1
can you ping 192.168.1.1
can you ping 66.249.91.104
can you ping https://www.google.com
have you wiped your screenname from the router?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Generally when you browse onto your router configuration there should be a page that tells you if it is connected to the Broadband service or not.
If it says it is not connected then you will never get on the internet . . ever!!
Make sure your router has connected to the AOL service correctly first.0 -
I've only skimmed through this so sorry if I've missed something here. Do you currently have the AOL software on your laptop? Can you connect to the net through AOL still? If you can connect through AOL but not through IE then try this.
Start>programmes>aol>aol system information. Click on the Utilities tab and the click Rebuild AOL adaptor. Once you've done this it may ask you to restart your laptop but I can't quite remember. After this try opening up IE and with any luck it will connect. It worked for me anyway! Good luck!0 -

This is the basis of your problem, your router is not connecting to the AOL service. Not really sure why at the moment and don't have time to check what it might be at the moment (sorry but at work)
But, until you get this saying "You are now connected" then you won't go anywhere as your router has not got a link to the broadband service (so you can ignore requests to ping things or browse to web sites etc because it won't work)0 -

I think you will need a modem router, and not just a router. The modem router will then log in to your screenname, and then it will just pump out the internet for everyone to connect to0
