I think it would have been a good idea to have organised an advertising campain to let people know about the specialist renewal team in advance to inform us that some people might get the letter, instead of receiving it a few weeks before the renewal pack, when lets face it most of us are all anxious to get renewed & have no hiccups to whatever payments we receive.

It would also have been a good idea to make sure that all staff in Tax credits knew about the renewals team, because some staff that I've spoken to have been very vague about it & 1 lady told me to ignore the letter & renew with her!!!

I renewed on the 22 April, received a provisional on the 6 May, have phoned a few times and been told that it has not been processed yet, I have been trying again ALOT during this week to try and find out what is happening with our claim and not been able to get through. We only have the main phone number. We have NOT received any paperwork or phone calls from the specialist team so we dont know for sure wether our case is with them or not.

I just thought that i would tell about me to put peoples minds at rest. I received my letter from the specialists at the begining of April. I thought it was abit strange as I've never needed help to complete my review. I rang the number I was given and it was answered straight away. It was just like renewing with the other number except they asked me if anybody had been coming and going sice April 2009 which my answer was no. I do have a boyfriend but he does not live with me. My award is over £8500 and I do pay for childcare for my son, my daughter is at school now. A week later i received a letter requesting my P60, which i had to wait 3 weeks for.In the meantime i received my provisonal award and my nhs exemption card. Once I sent off my p60 within 2 weeks I received it back, my new award notice for this year and my final for last. I was abit concered as to why I was picked the only reason I can think off is when I first claimed I had an overpayment of £700. So basically mine was pretty straight forward. I just think it is a new way of making sure people don't get overpayed and then have to pay it back.

    My number was 0845 600 5309.

My letter came on 14th April, it also didn't have a reference or date which concerned me. I called through when my pack arrived and everything went through within 2 weeks, but paperwork took a further 2 weeks. Hope this helps.
