Yeah I had done mine through specialist team, have you claimed now for joint claim, if you did how long did it take to get sorted out, im still waiting for forms.

i got the forms within a week but didnt want to send them back till my single claim was fully closed i have heard some horror storys about people getting refused as claiming as a couple so didnt want to do it untill that was sorted. cause he earns alot our combined incomes are over £55,000 so not sure if i will even bother as conservatives will prob stop it in junes budget for over £50,000 im not bothered think its about £579 a year we would get kind of feels not worth the worry tax credits cause.
  • This is what is commonly referred to as a 'Household Breakdown' and is far from a simple change of circumstances and the previous joint award must be ended and an entirely new claim submitted.

Although both of you were entitled to Tax Credits that doesn't mean that you or your ex-partner will necessarily be entitled individually... on the flip side, a new award may well pay a greater amount of Tax Credits depending on the circumstances.

I would advise replying to the letter with as much detail as possible.

    Hope this helps.

Unfortunatly, despite the household income on which the claim will be based falling by more than half, the award of approx £42 per monts will be the same (have checked online)!! Thanks for your help:)
  • Hi
Just an update for you people. Have received a letter from specialist team asking for copy of council tax bill and mortgage statement or rental agreement. Why on earth they want these I have no idea but they shall get what they ask for. Have to send these in by 25th June.

When did you renew with the specialist team if you don't mind me asking?

I originally renewed with specialist team on Fri 21st. Phoned back a couple of days later to ask if claim had been finalised only to be told that they had no record of me phoning so has to go through again.( Please see my other posts for full info). Today i have received the letter asking for council tax and rent agreement. Only thing I can think of is they want these to verify i live here and on my own. Dont know why though. I am on electoral register and I am here on my own. They will get all documents they ask for. I have looked them out and im sending them on Tues as there is no post on Monday due to Bank Holiday. I know they have to do the checks etc and I have absolutely nothing to hide but cant help feeling that I am under suspicion in some way and its a horrible feeling. Once they receive my documents, I hope thats the end of it and award is finalised.:(

That's right I remember reading that post. I finished my single claim last Monday with specialist team after finalizing last years info, the Tuesday I had to phone normal line to request a pack to claim ad joint now partner has moved in so I am waiting patiently for that. I'm not sure if I will get asked to send in any info but I know I don't have rental agreement due to a burst pipe earlier this year and latest council tax form is shreded as it's all done direct debit, I claim disability for my oldest son and they have never asked for proof maybe they will ask for that. They did say on Tuesday when I toned I was paid the right amount for last year and that was it closed but you k ow what there like.

The £8500 Tax Credit award figure quoted includes Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit... and any ChildCare costs paid as all this contributes to your total Tax Credit award amount.

And it's stillll no where near £8500 currently :)

    thanks taxcredithelp

could it just be as the lady from tax credit said on the phone is that they are so busy at the moment they just are not getting proccessed quickly.she said the 2 months when renew starts are a nightmare.we normally wait till end if june and dont get any problems.this year we have done it earlier and its been 3 weeks since we phoned up and renewed and all we got was a provisional which ive never had when ive renewed later in june.the tax credit lady all said that provisionals being sent out is normal is this true
    thanks again taxcredithelp

Agree completely here with Kyresa. Although mine is over £8500 I have a friend who has only 1 child and does not even claim childcare and she has been referred to specialist team. Her award is no where near £8500

So seems like its not all people with award over £8500.

That's exactly my situation - won't be claiming childcare until September!
