I called and the lady said that she would go through my application there and then. She then said that she couldn't as there were "signals" on my account,(I don't know what they are). She then asked for my telephone number and said that someone would probably call me. I have been in receipt of Tax Credits for 7 years and none of my details have ever changed - I am in the same house with the same job and hours,I don't have a partner and just 1 child. I'm worried sick about this and any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Hi
You are not alone here yummymummy, there are lots of us who are in the same boat and worried sick so we understand how you feel. From my experience the outside agency will prob be the specialist renewals team.
I was told there was a signal on my account by the main helpline who then told me to call the specialist team. It was them who eventually did my claim and now im being asked for more info. My advice to you is to phone back both the main line and the other number they gave you and demand answers. Ask them what is happening, you have a right to know.
Alot of us are being mucked about this year and i hope HRMC sort themselves out next year. Ive already had one lost phonecall by them and had to go through my claim all over again. Im sure it will all get sorted out for you soon. Just keep phoning them. I know its not handy but that seems to be the only way to get answers. Sorry I cant be of more help.
Also if you dont mind me asking is your total award over £8500?0 -
I don't know why Taxcredits keeps saying that either, because I am in the same situation as your friend and went through the specialist team. So it seems more random than is being suggested.
Ive spoken to a few of the girls I work with today and one of them has an award under £8500 with no disability etc and no childcare. So thats 3 cases I know of that are under £8500 and referred to specialist0 -
Hi newmummy123,
Yes,it is normally over £8500 as I also receive the disability element and am now wondering if this is why I have to wait on them contacting me.0 -

hi
You will probably find that this is why you have been referred to specialist then. Try not to worry too much about it. I have an award well over £8500 myself due to 3 kids and 2 very young in childcare. Just keep phoning them for updates. There are thousands of us being referred to this specialist team this year.0 -
Thanks very much for your replies,newmummy123,it's very reassuring to know that I'm not alone. I'm so glad to have found this forum. Good luck with yours too.0

This may be a silly question, but,do you have to phone them or do you have to fill out new forms?
I tried calling this morning but was on hold so long I had to give up and go to work.0 -
my award has all been completed but mine took over 6 weeks and i had to ring the specialist line but everything was fine they were really helpful!! i wouldnt worry guys0

well i rung yesterday asking for the specialist team phone no and was told they didnt know what i was talking about when i told them that i needed the award for school meals i was told to tell local authority to ring them so no further forward asked to speak someone in charge that never happened either if this is progress they got it all wrong, keeping people in the dark , then most likely saying we owe them money is NOT progress not in my eyes anyhow am now gonna write a letter of complaint see if that gets me anywhere lol0

I finally managed to get through this afternoon too and, after the lady had asked me a few questions, told me that she couldn't input anything else as there are "signals" on my application and that it's being dealt with by a different department but couldn't put me throught to them or give me any other information. I'm totally freaked out now and have no idea what these "signals" could be as absolutely nothing has changed in my job, circumstances or anything else. I wish it would just be sorted.0
