Looks like the Ferraro Rocher tower! :D

My sis hates traditional wedding cake, so she didn't bother.

Instead she had her favourite pudding - pavalova - in a giant tower.
It was amazing - it had edible glitter & everything!
They cut it like you would cut the wedding cake, then we all had it for our pud!

We are having the middle one in the top row, here:

    http://www.cakeflair.co.uk/gallery.htm

It's covered in white chocolate curved flakes, hence the fluted sort of look. We're also having red roses on it like the pic as they are our flowers. :)

Top layer will be gluten-free chocolate sponge as H2B has coeliac disease. Then we are having a lemon sponge tier and a chocolate sponge tier.

The lovely Sally at Cake Flair was the only person we spoke to who gave us confidence in their gluten free baking, and she made H2B a sample of her gluten free sponge. I'd tried her regular sponge at a wedding fair, and prior to that our friends had used her for their wedding.

Ours is costing £245, plus £25 for delivery and set up.

In a shameless plug, my bridesmaid's brother in law runs this company:

He really is an artist. We couldn't afford one of his cakes but if anyone out there is doing a really big budget wedding you should talk to him. For everyone else like me, just enjoy the photos. :) Check out the occasion cakes as well as the wedding cakes - some of them are soooo cool! Wouldn't want to cut them lol.

oo lovely sarah, not a bad price really because those chocolate cigarolles are quite expensive xx

i thought of going for a 4 tier...2 fruit n 2 spoinge n serving it as dessert to keep costs down, and also making my own favours....either themed biscuits, or individual cupcakes

Effectively a profiterole tower. I love them. have actually seen them made better than these pics

OMG I would LOVE one of those!!! I wanted profiteroles for pud anyway, and my OH is half french so it would be perfect.... except what do you actually cut?? My parents are funny around there being something to actually cut...

    Hello :)

I will be making my own cakes. We're having a 3 tier wedding cake with the top and bottom being fruit cake (therefore made in advance and 'fed' with brandy) and the middle tier will be a chocolate and beetroot cake. Sounds strange but it is the yummiest and moistest chocolate cake ever. Here's the recipe if you're interested

I have also bought a 7 tier cupcake stand on ebay (£24) and will be baking and icing 130 cupcakes in varying flavours (I'm thinking vanilla, lemon and two other flavours... ideas please).

I am a fanatic baker and love icing cakes too so I will relish this challenge.

  • That is a freaking STEAL. The only people I contacted wanted over £300. I don't even EAT cake !!!!!!!

I know - even more of a bargain as Sis in law to be is paying! Caused a bit of a war though as my cousin (who is getting married in September) recommended her and this is the cake she wanted although I never knew this and specifically asked the lady to make sure we did not end up with same cake!
Became Mrs Lawson on May 1st 2010

    Turn £100 into £10000 in 2010
    Spent £0.00 Made =£278.15

Nuttymummy - Have seen those, they do look incredible.

Catsy - It's a must if he's half french! This is their traditional 'wedding cake'. You will also get to cut it so don't worry about that.

I worked with a French Chef for years and saw him make many of these. They are fabulous. The more I talk about it, the more I want to bully OH into it :rotfl:

I've wanted one of these since I was 15!
