I heard the heartbeat from 12 weeks on the Angelsound we bought. Everyone was telling us it would be at least 14 weeks until we heard anything! We did hear it at the 16 week appointment with the MW. they have the equipment right there so just ask if its ok if you can listen to it.

Congrats on your pregnancy, i havent been around here in 2 weeks so im starting to catch up again now :)

I had a Csection for my first as she was an awkward breech and 10lb3oz. If she hadnt been I would have liked to try for a water birth, and if I hadnt been under consultants I would have loved to have a home birth. Now I am pregnant with my 2nd as i am looking at VBAC I will still be in hospital :(
    DS1 arrived 22/02/11! 8lb3oz
    DD1 arrived 20/05/09 10lb3oz

Hi everyone, that is terrible the way the hosptial is treating you pigpen, is that the local hospital or the Leeds one. I am under Barnsley and have found them to be really good. Makes me realise that iam lucky.

I first heard baby's heartbeat at 16 weeks and then i have heard baby's heartbeat again each time i have had an appointment at the hospital or at the midwifes.

I have had a nice weekend, me and dh got some more baby clothes from baby gap at the outlet not far from where we live. Then yesterday we went to Whiterose and my dh bought baby a blue all in one coat its so cute and some vests from pumkin patch. Baby has loads of clothes now ranging from 0 months up to 12 months. I can't resist the baby clothes when i see them. We have bought a lot of the clothes in the sale, so have saved some money. Going to meet someone that used to be one of my lectures when i was at college, we have stayed in touch and she says that she has got us something for baby, which is very nice of her.

Dh is working away today till tomorrow so its just me and our dog at home. Hope that everyone has a good day today.

claire I told OH not to bother getting time off to come to the 16 week appointment because its just routine, I said I might get to hear the heartbeat but no scan, so off he went to work. I was 16+5 and the midwife did try to find the heartbeat but after 10 mins trying and by which time my heartbeat was racing she decided it was best just to refer me up to the hospital for a scan to make sure everything was ok. Scan was fine but was a scary afternoon, would have been nice if OH was there. I know some midwives will not check for heartbeat at this stage as it can't always be found. I have a friend who also couldn't find the heartbeat at 16 weeks but didn't get referred for a scan, that could have been because of my previous mcs or just a lovely midwife or maybe she could see me panic. I have an anterior placenta and apparently that can make it harder to hear the heartbeat and harder to feel movements. I'm only really geting regular kicks now at 20 weeks. Which I was a bit shocked about after getting kicks from 16 weeks with DS I was expecting to feel the baby sooner. I heard the heartbeat with DD and DS so I probably did panic a bit. Hopefully you'll have a lovely appointment and find it straight away which is the case most the time x

Just had my kiddicare delivery turn up, was really quick am impressed. Kids are now spending the day playing with boxes lol

Claire, I heard the heartbeat at the 12 week scan.

I am having a homebirth, and I'm due just 3 days before you - it is my second, but if I could go back and have the first one again, I'd have had a home birth for him as well.

I love the thought of me and my family being the only ones my mw has to concentrate on at a time. When I had DS in hospital we were left alone a lot (they were exceptionally busy, I don't think it's normal to be left as much as we were), and they gave me G&A and told me I was making a fuss, I wasn't in labour yet. They came back after a couple of hours because "it sounded like you were draining the entire hospital of G&A" to find I was 10cm dilated. I only just made it to the delivery suite in time. I found it frightening as a first timer not knowing what to expect, and I would have found the whole experience a lot better if there had been someone there who knew what was going on, and could have recognised how fast it was going.

I wish I could have a pool but our house is tiny and I'm not sure there is anywhere we could put one, especially if this one is late as well.

    the local abertoire!

They told me the leeds referral had been made weeks ago.. then said they had sent out 2 appointments and then admitted the referral had not been sent at all.. class or what?!

Oh, they want a 24 hour urine collection... HAHAHA!!!!! I'd wet myself laughing if it were possible!!!! i said I can do that in about half a second!!

My mother has now offered to come and yell at them for me lol.. I think she just likes yelling at people!

I seem to be leaking urea/ammonia from every pore I feel like a stink of wee.. and I can't decide if it is just me being a touch neurotic and smelling things that aren't there.. but it has to go somewhere!!

The blood loss is nasty and smells horrific.. it smelled so bad this morning I wasn't sure if it was bowel leakage or not.. but this isn't a problem apparently.. *shrug*

    Morning all

    Hope PP is ok *hugs*

Nice to see you back Bufger!

I had a MW appt this morning, she asked me if I had had any signs of labour yet, I said nothing major really and then it left me feeling abit dissappointed!! OH has banned me from sniffing the clary sage oil after it starting off major BH last night but it never came to anything.

Baby is lay v awkward today, sticking elbows/ feet and hands out everywhere, making me feel v uncomfortable!

Still not 100% sure when to finish work, I am down to finish this Friday but work want me to do another week.. is this wise when I will be 38/39 weeks pregnant in a v hot building with many cases of stairs to get in/ out or just go to loo?! They have even offered to pay my OH to work with me and with him being unemployed this money could really help... duno what to do

That sounds like a good idea - you're clearly not up to doing enough shouting on your own account at the moment, somebody needs to, and who better to have in your corner than your own mummy when you feel like that :)
