Mine was opposite; I was given a 2nd hand one I didn't mind and OH wanted a new one so we donated the 2nd hand one to charity and bought a new one. I am glad we did this now as the cot looks lovely
Thanks ladies
The sanding down & painting is an option. Because the cot was hand made the mattress will need to be made to order and the base needs new strapping as was made with rubber strapping which has perished.
I did say to DH this morning that my idea was to have a cot bed so that we would have something to last and I suggested that the family cot his mum could use at her house for when baby is with her when I go back to work.......If you can think it........it will happen0 -

Hi all
I'm glad this is my last day at work for this week! I have no confidence that I'm up to working a full week any time soon. One of the other managers just came over and asked how I was, said I look v pale!
I am going to finish the half completed risk assessment that has been sitting on my desk for ages and then email the boss about working from home a bit. Otherwise I'm going back to the Dr to ask her to write one of those fit notes saying I can't manage full time work without it!Thanks ladies

Pigpen, I have mixed experiences with M & S bras. The one I have at the moment is mostly comfy (depending on which way sproglet is choosing to position itself), but others I've tried on are just unbearable. My boobs seem to have stopped growing at the moment. I went from a 34 to a 38D almost straight away, but they've settled down now. I come from a family of women with HUGE breasts, and it's my nightmare I wake up with them!
Very annoying, MW was meant to be coming at 2 today, but can't make it. So I've already had my waddle into town for some stuff, and tidied the house, so now I'm a bit bored. I might embark on making the cot, after I've gotten over the thrill of the washing up.

Howdy all
Soooooo I am 20 weeks...and my bump has shrunk......last week I looked suitably preggers, now, not so much at all.
Anyone else had this?0 -
Emsy - yay for hitting 20 weeks! It's totally possible that baby has changed position making you look smaller. There's still quite a lot of room in there for them to wriggle about in.
My fatty bubba can still move around, making for some very weird shape bump looks at times.

Have you had your scan yet? Are you going to find out the flavour?
Mine did that - well I looked HUGE and then I fitted back into clothes that I couldn't get on two weeks earlier, then I didn't seem to grow for a couple of weeks. I think baby does move quite a lot and that's probably why and also you might have had a bit of water retention or been a bit erm "backed up". Every so often I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror and think "Where TF did that come from?" or my OH will suddenly go "look at the SIZE of you!"
Don't worry, you'll soon feel like an elephant again:rotfl:
Bellymonkey due 25/09/10 :j0 -
Tinkwigs- If you do decide you really want to get the cot bed then you could try measuring the gaps between the bars, I'm sure there was something I read about checking older cot models as the regulations changed about 10 years (?) ago. Maybe google it and you could find out the width that is now recommended. Personally I don't get the cot bed thing myself as I don't see it really saves you much money as you can get such reasonable cot's/ single beds now, and all the bedding is that bit more expensive and I knew I wanted a small age gap between my children so the older one wouldn't be in it for long anyway- as I say, thats just me though!
I've just sat and munched my way through a big plate of left over cheesey potato gratin from last night, which was lovely, but now I have heart burn! Meh! Serves me right for being greedyWent to midwife yesterday and baby is engaged at the minute, but as it is not my first baby this doesn't mean much as it could easily pop out again. Feeling the pressure (literally) though now baby is lower, definitely walking like john wayne/ a granny/ a duck/ or penguin. I want to flap my arms like wings when I walk just to finish off the comedy walk
Labour vibes to them in need, and welcome/ congratulations to newbies!0 -
Afternoon all
Annoyed mood I went to docs to hopefully pick up my prescription but it is closed for the afternoon, means another trip tomorrow morning. Decided to treat myself to a chocolate twist from sainsburys.
More labour vibes to those at the top of the list, come one we want some babies!!
Re holidays we went at about 20 weeks which was good, apart from the fact I had killer indigestion and couldn't really eat dinner every night - but that is sorted now. At the mo at 26 weeks starting to feel tired again so not sure I could manage it.
Been doing clearing out and dropped 3 bags off at the charity shop, noticed in there a moses basket, with stand and matress for £13 (no good for me as lent one from BIL but need a new matress). I know Rach is the croydon area - not sure if you had one sorted out?? If anyone else is in the area I can let you know what shop it was in.Thomas born 28/08/2010 weighing 5lbs and 4ounces, small but perfectly formed :j:j Now weighs 19lbs and 5 ounces

Emsy: my bump always changes, some days I look HUGE and other days I don't even look pregnant, think it all depends how the baby is lying, on water retention, etc. Lots of people have commented this week how I am starting to show a definate bump now.
Fernlie: at what week does the baby engage? I'm curious!
Well my antenatal tutor has emailed me finally, due to lack of people taking the classes I am being offered one to one classes! Might be abit weird but hopefully me and OH will learn something!! Not sure whether to opt for her coming to my house during the day (meaning time off work!) or during evenings. She lives in the same village as me so that helps! Will speak to OH tonight and see what times he prefers.0
