KitKat - I havent been to any classes, and to be honest i dont really feel like I've missed out on much. Any information I've wanted, I've been able to find online.
As for holding baby, head supported most important thing, whether its in your palm, crook of your arm etc
My madwife read through my birth plan, told me if the pool wasnt available at local hospital, i could go too birth centre about 25 miles away. But now given my recent behaviour LOL it doesnt look like they'd take me there so am hoping pool is available.
I didnt write anything exacting, just things i was looking to try out..... if its too exacting you build yourself up to having that EXACT thing happening and if for any reason it doesn't, well thats hardly going to amount to much relaxation.
Mine reads like
Would like to use tens in first stages, would like to birth in pool, if not available/suitable would like to part labour in water, be it bath or shower for relaxation. Prefer gas and air but if im struggling/look like im struggling would like staff to suggest further options (this is because i find it hard to ask for things sometimes). Craig husband is happy to be there for labour but doesnt want to be involved in actual birthing, cut the cord or come with me to theatre should i need a c section.
If i need c-section i would like this explained to Craig and my parents (either both or singularly dependant on whose there) and one of my parents to attend if possible. I want the baby cleaned and wrapped before he is given to me unless i have birthed in water, in which case im happy for him to be placed straight to me.
I'd like to try to breastfeed asap after birth and would ask that someone from staff is there to help me.
I prefer not to have injection to deliver placenta.
Happy for baby to have vit k injection but no other injections.
Prefer ventuose over forceps.
However in light of all preferences, whatever is needed to deliver baby safely is what i am happiest with.
Thats mostly the basics of it
Thanks Cafcthink I am just scaring myself as people keep saying to me 'not long now' but I still have just over 2 months which is long enough! I wasn't going to bother with the classes, but my work are paying so I thought I may aswell. There is lots of good information on the internet, some of these magazines that MW has given me and the best advice has been from this forum! I started watching the 'bump to breastfeeding' dvd the MW gave me last night, and there was far too many nipples for that time of day so I thought I would watch it when I felt more prepared!!! :rotfl:
Thanks for posting your birth plan, its always good to see what other people put on theirs. I am putting on mine that my OH will be there throughout, whether he likes it or not! As long as he stays by my head!!! But I am the same as you and want the baby cleaned up before skin to skin contact, my family thought I was abit weird saying this but I know if the baby is put straight on me it will only gross me out :rotfl: sorry!!!0 -

Well i really think my bump is going to go overdue. Certainly dont feel like anything is going to happen by sundayI have not had any BH or other clues that something is changing even though i have been down to the allotment pottering!!
xx:mad::mad::mad::mad: And now I've just got an email from my Hea of Dept saying will I mark this, and have I done this and don't forget reports are due in soon and would I be able to do the other.
You need to speak to your union rep ASAP! When you are off on long term sick, your school is NOT allowed to contact you (unless you contact them and want them to hassle you..) I know it sounds far fetched, but youre going to have more issues further down the line (like when you return) if you dont make it clear to your HOF that you know your rights! I really do feel for you about setting cover. But please please make a query with your union! Baby first! There is no way on this earth you should be markinh/doing reports either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:
Just let me know if you need anything, even resources, etc as setting cover can become so difficult over longer periods of time!
And I cant believe your in excactly same role, Ive been Eng sec teacher for nearly 5 years now! And redmel, it is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world but the amount of guilt you feel when youre not there to support your pupils makes you do extra things that you possibly wouldnt do in other jobs!
I did GTP, not PGCE though- got thrown in the deep end and paid as unqualified teacher for a year. Was super hard but learnt a lot!
Oohhh. CAFC, hope it is your waters! :j
Still nothing here although I slept through from 11am til 3pm! I feel a bit more energised as current sleeping timetable is as follows:
bed LATE- 12 ish.
up at 1 for loo/leaking
up at 3/4 cramps from baby attacking me
up at 5 loo/leaking
up at 6 loo/leaking/cramps
up at 7 to wonder around house quietly or play on DSi. Then i just stay up because I think whats the point?!:D
Any other due ladies have stupid sleeping timetable?
Lots of L VIBES to those who want them!First baby born 10/06/10:heartpuls 6lb 10z:heartpulsI love my little family0 -
Hi Stargirl, welcome and congratulations:D
I had my first two boys 23mths apart(now 7&9), and I am due in 3wks and ds3 will be 15mths!!
Did you have MS last time round, did you find anything in particular helpful in helping you feel better? I found eating little and very, very often helped me, it usually had to be junk food too;) Just do what ever you need to. DO you have any friends/family nearby that can help you out with LO if you get a particularly bad bout? Also MAKE SURE YOU NAP WHEN LO DOES....NO EXCUSES:D
xxUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.0 -
My bag is all packed, but it looks like it's packed for a week
hopefully we won't need it all :rotfl: and I really should put it away somewhere because it's sat on my sofa and has been for ages
thats very organised I am due 2 sept with likely section week before and havent even found a bag to pack stuff into yet!!0 -
anyone know about chicken pox and pregnancy? The nursery my little one goes to is currently swamped with children who have it so looks like it will be about for a few weeks yet. Both my little ones have had it but, but i know its not good in pregnancy. Is it just at certain times - early on in pregnancy or throughout that is really dangerous, and would it be a problem that i am still sending my dd even though she has had it?Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Had a grand day today..
On the way to court (divorce papers nothing exciting) OH crashed his car into another so I have had an afternoon of very painful cramping.. which reduced to painful niggling.. until the school run when they are back on full power!
Car will be fine.. just sorted a new wing mirror
We got home.. his lappy power supply has died.. end of all reasoning and rational behaviour.. I have ordered a new one on next day delivery.
Hopefully things will be better tomorrow.. I don't think there are 2 things which could break which would bother him half so much.
I may need some 'baby stay put' vibes for the next few days... 29 weeks is FAR too early even for me!!! I haven't got my crib yet!! I am really hoping there is no bleeding because I don't think OH could cope right now!

Actually it is only if YOU get it it poses a problem to the baby when it arrives.. it can lie dormant in the baby until delivery when it goes crazy and causes all sorts of problems.. have you had CP?
5 of mine had cp when I was pg with DD4 and as I had already had it (twice) I was fine and didn't get it so it did not effect baby.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

stargirl congrats and welcome x
My 2 are 15 months apart and it wasn't too bad early on as they both slept alot, sometimes at the same time (bliss) sometimes different times so got 1-1 time too. Then they stopped napping about 6 months - 1year before the eldest started preschool and that was the tough bit, then she went to preschool for half the day and the time flies by then as you are sucked into the school timetable. Youngest starts full time school in sept - i think I'm mad to have another just as they are gonna both be at school but that's the way its worked out.
slm I read up quite a bit as it was going around DS nursery and neither of mine have had it and I don't know if I have. The midwife was not concerned unless I'd been in close contact with they children that had it. I think there is a tiny risk of miscarriage if you haven't had it, then like pigpen said if you get it later on (after 28 weeks I think I read) then the baby can be born with chicken pox which is quite serious for a newborn. Mine still haven't had it and it seems to have fizzled out at the preschool now but I was anxious for a while, I wish my mum had a better memory - I think I might write it down somewhere if mine ever do get it so they know for the future.0
