I'M OFF SICK !!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad: I bloody hate being a teacher sometimes, I just wouldn't get this hassle if I worked in an office or something :mad::mad:

:mad:I'm cross for you too...But please stop telling me the joys of being a teacher, I have only got 2-3yrs of part time study left before I can apply for my PGCE;):p My dream job:A
bubs has a really sore bum if it doesnt start getting better in the next day or two im gonna have to take him to the doctors i think. I've had his nappy off all morning and so far ive had to clean up 3 wees and two poops he seems to be enjoying it though and i think he is realising when he is weeing as he keeps grabbing his wiggle when he does a tinkle apparently thats really important for them to know when they get to the potty training stage. Ive been reading a book that says most babies have the bodily ability to stay dry during the day from twelve months old but because we slap nappies on them all the time they loose the ability to distinguish the feelings and so they end up in nappies until around 2+yrs old its quite fascinating to read.

That is really fascinating actually. My LO knows when he has done a poop or wee and when he is in the bath he stops what he is doing and looks down at his winkie and starts to grab it, although this is most likely after he has done a wee, so I won't be leaving any nappies off for a while:cool::p

It's actually a fantastic job and I'd much rather be healthy and at work than at home in this state. It's just the sickness thing that really gets to me. There was one day when I was off in the autumn where I did - not joking - 5 hours work one day when I was off sick. This is why I always drag myself in when I'm off, it just feels so much easier.

What's your PGCE gonna be in? Make sure you have something to offer uni that shows how passionate you are about your subject as competition for places is very tough these days. I teach Sec English and I did a writing course at our local theatre and volunteer work with youth groups to get one. The year previously I hadn't done either and was rejected without interview for all the courses I applied for. There's a thread on TES for prospective student teachers too which might be useful

    Thank You:A

I did actually get accepted onto a PGCE (Eng Sec) a couple of years ago. I was doing my final two courses together so 'should' have completed my degree by the time the PGCE was due to start...unfortunately the year didn't go as planned and we ended up being harrassed by our neighbours, dh nearly had a nervous breakdown (2nd one) and we were forced to move, so I didn't get to finish my courses and take the place:( Since then I have had another baby and am (obviously) due this one very shortly so have decided I may as well just continue it part time while raising the kids.

I will definitely bear in mind additional courses/groups etc and try to get a few under my belt before applying again:T

Oooh, Redmel, how weird that we'll be teaching the same age and subject! It's a shame you don't live closer then you could have all my notes from PGCE. They're still in files in what needs to be the baby's room sooner rather than later and I just can't quite bring myself to chuck them out!

Have written to my Head teacher about returning to work and will find out either today or tomorow whether I'll be going back an doing office duties or whether I'm done now for at least a year! I honestly don't know which I'd rather really

I know! I think you must be the first person I have 'spoken' to that is working in the exact field I want to:p Most people just look at me as if I have a screw loose when I tell them what I am working towards:cool:

Fingers crossed you can be off from now on and take time to look after yourself and baby, without being constantly hassled:p:D

Yep, that's the type of comment!!
I keep getting, 'why don't you go in to work with the little ones, they are sooo much cuter and better behaved'!!!

Give me a class of hormonal teenagers anyday:p I did the Student Associate Scheme, which was three weeks paid work in a local secondary, it was fantastic.....I mostly shadowed teachers and helped out in the class, but got to take a few classes by the end too....I loved it:j:j
