Going over tommorow to look at it, part of me still thinks £175 plus the £250ish for car seat and isofix base (obv we will need to get new) is expensive but if we brought the whole lot new even looking at all the different offers around at the moment on the quinny with either car seat or carry cot then having to buy the car seat or carrycot seperatly we would be looking at £500 plus the cost of the isofix base which is around £130 so £630 roughly.

This one is 10mths old so think we will prob buy but feel like buying too soon at 26wks and what if we see something else we like - aaaahhh decisions - husband says do what you want he is even happy for me to spend £600 on new if thats what I want as we have saved elsewhere but I cant warrant that amount of money!

freebie - I've seen lots of ebay offers on the buzz, including pretty much brand new carrycots. I liked the idea of it at first but have gone off it now, far too big for us.

If anyone sees any good offers on the maclaren xt let me know - smartie you owe me one :P

Just relaxing this aft, dh is in a better mood and came out for breakfast with us so left a decent end impression on my parents. cricket is on at the mo and he's going out to get me an ice cream in a bit :)

In terms of clothes, my mum was a star and picked up some plain white bits for us before she came down. we for a few bits in the sains 25% off yesterday and went through all the stuff we have which is:

    newborn:
    12 s/sleeved vests (just a v cheap ebay bundle)
    10 l/sleeved vests
    11 sleepsuits
    1 jacket
    1 hat
1 x outfit (bought by mil)
    1 x boots
    2 x scratch mitts
1 x romper suit (this is massive tho says newborn)
    1 x l/s t shirt (same!)

    0-3 months
    7 s/s vests
    7 l/s vests
    11 sleepsuits
    4 trousers & top sets

plus we have 4 knitted cardis which should be ok from birth for a good while.

I know there's a fair bit in newborn but most is up to 11lb, and my friends 8lb5oz baby has loads of space in his newborn stuff. It has also cost us hardly anything (yesterday we got some white sleepsuits from Sains, £3.75 for pack of 3 plus 25% off - it's only the equivalent of a cup of coffee!!)

I think I'll just look for some more cardis when the winter stuff comes in, and one more pack of l/sleeved vests which my mum is gonna pick up. we have all the newborn stuff in one drawer and 0-3 in another. In terms of cute little outfits I may buy one or two but think we'll mainly wait til its born and expect to get presents (fil is a minister and i think a fair few people from the church will get us stuff).

Anyone know where is good for cellular blankets? I need some and will need some cotbed bedding soon too. Not sure whether to do the whole bumper/themed thing or not to bother.

My babybjorn active (£7 netmums bargain!!) arrived yesterday, we now have 2 babybjorns...will probably adjust one for each of us as dh is very keen on carrying bubs when out and about rather than the pushchair. Also picked up my boots change bag and got a pack of pampers size 2s for £3. Noticed boots own newborn nappies on 2 for £3 if anyone is interested.

Also persil non bio is on offer at £4 big box at sains and waitrose and small& mighty at waitrose too.

    sorry for long post!!

it is very quiet on here. I love to be organised and am buying bits and pieces as i come accross them. I am only just gone 16 weeks and worry if i am too early buying bits and piece. Even thinking about bits for xmas - sorry but i like to be organised and spread the costs.

Most of the big items i have already from previous babies so i guess its only the smaller bits to worry about.

Sending good vibes to you all and hope your having a better day today x

Size wise my DD was 8lb 5 and she did need newborn rather than 0-3. The thing was more shape than size. She was very long so practically filled the newborn size in terms of length, however she was really skinny, so if she wore 0-3 then she would kick her legs/ wriggle about and the legs and arms would come off as they were so baggy and she would end up trapped in the body bit :D

The other thing is different places do completely different sizes. So newborn from one shop is like 0-3 in another anyway. I found the next gro's had teeny tiny legs and even the 0-3 didn't fit my DD right. It is all trial and error anyway with a new baby. :)

We hadn't bought any newborn stuff at all for her, however my nan had picked up a couple of bit's from the charity shop and when she was born we got pressies so it was fine. She was soon out of them, but she still can't fill her clothes width wise!

If your bub's are on the small or skinny side Boots clothing tends to come up that little bit smaller than most :-)

xmas- I find it really is trial and error on where is best to get babies/ childrens clothes from depending on their shape. I get mainly hand me downs and so it doesn't really matter, but if I had to buy everything new it would be a nightmare to try and buy stuff without trying it first. I find gap long sleevers are the best fit for DD so i trawl the charity shops for them, I could never afford to keep getting them brand new!

I guess it's exactly the same with adults clothes too though.

This is why i only buy next size up never the size they are bubs currently fits perfectly into 9-12 Months so i'm getting him 12-18months now you can guarentee half of it will fit now and the other half is put up until it does fit which wont be long. I'm also going to hit asda when the sales are on and buy him stuff for next year it saves a fortune. He is only 8 months old but is very long and is now getting some baby fat on him too he is going to be tall like his dad i think. I do get some strange looks of people and the odd comment who expect him to be further on than he is as he looks older than what he is with his full head of hair and being so big.

Do gap do longer trousers as well or is it just their tops that come up long? Its a waste of time me trawling the charity shops round here they are full of absolute carp so its sales all the way or ebay :-)

    Hi all,

I haven't posted in a little while but I wanted to post about the safe arrival of my little one! Holly Alyssa was born at 2.11pm on Tuesday (4 days late) after a labour that began on Sunday lunchtime! It wasn't quite the experience I'd imagined but after a longish stay in hospital (got out on Friday) we're both doing well. Will post a full birth story at some point in the near future!
