Thanks Fuzz, loving the rocker! Very cute! I will speak to OH tonight, he has all these stupid ideas of starting up a business but I cant see how its going to work, plus you need money to invest into it, maybe if he just signed on for afew weeks while he gets it set up. I just cant see him making enough for us to live off when I am on leave.0

Might try to get him to claim JSA, even tho he is against claiming anything, I think we will need him to, and if there is a chance of getting the surestart grant, well even better!
Thanks for that link Cafc, I wonder if I can convince him to sign on??
Admittedly its not nice to sign on, but technically he's only getting back money that he's paid into the system throug taxes he's paid when working.
And chances are he wont be on it for long anyway. :AWealth is not measured by currency0 -
kitkat you can claim upto 3months after baby is born so if you cant get it before baby is born once she or he is you can claim tax credits & hopfully the sure start too, check out entitled to you can play about with the numbers to see what you will get0

CAFC cold pizza:eek: you willing to share:p:rotfl: I had a cold veggie pizza for brekkie....was yummy:o in my defence I was in a rush, it was there and I really didn't fancy my usual toast/cereal/fruit!
KK if he's looking into starting his own business tell him to go ask at Jobcentre..think they have a thing where they will give advice on the best places to go for financial help, help with business plans etc...combine it with him signing on(coz he may as well while he's there!) and hey presto, you both get what you want;):)
And with his reluctance to sign on...I can understand it coz of the stigma etc BUT he's paid all his contributions so is more entitled to it than the kids who leave school and go straight onto JSA. would that kind of reasoning work with him???1.11.09 - debt = £45k:eek:

Thanks Cafc and 1more, I will speak to him tonight. If I say to him we could maybe get this grant he might be more willing, I always tell him its what we pay taxes for so its there to help us when we are out of work. Grrrr men! He just seems to think he is okay earning nothing/ claiming nothing but the problem is now he isnt paying any NI, so he will have a shortfall... again. As he was out of work before and didnt claim he had a nice bill for about £300 for NI, I've also got one for £250 which I still cant work out as at the time I wasn't even earning enough to pay NI (think you have to earn over £90 per week).
Does anyone know are you taxed on SMP? I presume so but I am just unsure!!0 -
Con ' since you asked so nicely, im sure i can spare a slice, texas bbq. was hoping eating might help the heartburn...... no such luck so far.... better eat some more just to be sure LOLWealth is not measured by currency0

Lol Fuzz. I know so many people who just left school and have signed on ever since, think he just doesnt wana associate himself with those chavs!! lol. Your right Smartie, lots of people just do it and do so for years and years. I will admit I wouldn't like to at all, but if it came to it I would as I believe I have worked since leaving school, all through college upto now and paid my contribution.
I am very worried about how we will cope when I am off work, I can see us having to go live back with our parents... and a baby...0 -
CAFC re: back.....have you tried standing up and tilting your pelvis up by tucking your bum in?? My physio told me this when she found out I was pg as I suffer with a bad back pre-preg:(...it's all to do with hyperextension which is probs what bubs is doing to your back:)
Its worth a try anyway:)
thanks for the offer of pizza but the bbq sauce is too strong for me atmI'm assuming it's Dominoes;):)
I've given in to the temptation of my cheese & mayo muffins/cobs/batches/:drool: * please delete as appropriate for each region*:p

Tell me about it! My home towns job centre is like going to a school reunion every fortnight:eek::eek: so glad I moved away, it's depressing!!!
And try not to worry too much hun....once bubs is here, there'll be plenty of way to help you cope:) I know it doesn't seem like it now but although it won't be easy you can do it:)
My sister was in your situation when she was pregnant with her 1st....she never went back to work after having the baby coz it didn't pay to go as she would've been earning too much to get tax credits etc and her fella was out of work before she got pg!! mainly coz he's bonidle and if I'm being fair to the idiot there was nothing about! Both parents just made sure that the baby didn't suffer(he mustn't have done as they had another a year later!) but 5 years after the youngest was born and with her bf going bankrupt...he now has his own business, my sisters just started hers, they've bought their house and are finally straight...just took them a bit longer:) sister calls it the scenic route:D1.11.09 - debt = £45k:eek:
