Is it true that hair dyes don't take when you're pregnant? The colour has washed out of my hair and now I've got a frizzy orange mess :o

I always dye my hair bright red- im a natural red head but prefer something a bit more bold- and my hair colour has washed out in about 2 weeks. I can usually get away with 6 weeks! I also noticed that the colour was darker and not as bright. I guess everyone is different though. I didnt dye my hair in the first 4 months though, wasnt quite sure about the advice given about dyes and chemicals, etc. But I thought after first bloods I would get it done.

Quick question - where can I get cheap bra extenders from - the hook and eye part??

I got a packet from amazon. The black ones werent very reliable but beige/white have been brill! What can you say for 3 quid though!

Oooohh... I forgot to tell you all about the fantastic V shaped pillow I ordered about a month ago! Its AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Completely recommend it- I use it between legs and it supports bump and back, its brill for SPD! Also use it when sat in bed/on settee as it supports all of lower back and sides. AND when I stay at in laws, SIL has 6 month old now and we put him in the triangular bit as it lets him sit up with falling over! I use it for support when DH massages lower back and hips too... will def be taking it in the labour room! Comes with free pillow case. It was about 8 quid altogether- including p&p and took about 2 days to arrive.

It looks small in the pic but the ends are quite long.

MGEB im purple at the moment unfortuantely my hair is naturaly blonde though so im having to dye it every 12weeks argghhhhhhh!!!.

Its gonna cost me a fortune to get it back to blonde so its staying purple for the forceable future unless i get a windfall :-)
Oooo how blonde are you??? I'd love to dye mine but the one time I tried it went a strange colour of pink...not so bad but I was trying to dye it brown:o:rotfl:hairdresser who fixed it told me coz my hair is so fair and fine any home colour would treat my hair as though it'd been bleached first hence been too scared to try again:o and I can't justify the expense of getting it done at hairdressers!
Would love to experiment with different colours...although I think I'd have to dye my eyebrows too:eek:.....hmmm..maybe I should just leave well alone??:rotfl:

Nothing :D It's only one so it can go in a norm envelope with just a stamp so just your details will do :)

Yeah it's the two hook one, and has 4 'extending' lengths if that makes sense. Dunno if it's any good as never used it but for nowt it's worth a go i suppose?

Xmas - oooh see i know how you feel, imagine having naturally almost black hair and going white/platinum blonde - that needed redoing every 4 weeks  and even that was a push as the regrowth looked awful :p. God knows how i kept that up for 3 years haha! I love allsorts of colours though - i have prob nearly done the spectrum, haha - from blue black - purple - red - blonde - white blonde, lol i love dying my hair can ya tell :rotfl:

Confuzzled i was very blonde if your on my facebook you will see my piccys from before bubs was born. Ive always light blonde hair although it started looking a bit dowdy the last few years so used to brighten it up with a blonde colour but i got brave after having bubs and went very dark purple. Apparently the only way i can get rid of it is having it stripped and recoloured which i'm not looking forward to. So be warned if you do it your stuck with it until some major hairdressing work.

My hair is very fine as well but ive never had any problems with a colour other than red it just wont take and slides off. I use the scwartzcof ones now and wouldnt have to dye it so often if it wasnt for my roots coming through and looking like im grey lol :-)

  • Confuzzled - yeah usually for blondes you have to have it done at the hairdressers as they have to put a pigment on it before the darker colour will take. I learnt this at about 5months preg when i really needed to either keep doing roots (which i was advised not to) or go back dark.

They just just put a red or brown pigment on then the colour you'd like. Just as it has to be done in the hairdressers makes it quite expensive. As they have already put the pigment back in mine i can now use box dyes again wheras i'd have made a mess if i hadn't let em first.

As for eyebrows - tint em, not with the dye but an eyebrow tint. I used to do loads of tints on blondes. The worst is going from dark eyebrows to light hair, lol - i had to thin mine right out so they didn't stand out so much coz bleaching eyebrows is a big no-no hahahaha! Imagine eyebrow re-growth :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Guys just a quick lurk-in question...

I dye my hair red with Loreal Ferria, and I'm starting to get a bit rooty.

I'm very early on in preg, so should I wait till after 12 weeks to dye it, and are Loreal hairdyes generally safe to use when preggo?

Ooooo thanks for this, I might grow a pair and try it while I'm on maternity leave:D No work to worry about and if it goes wrong I can hide in the house and blame it on bubs:rotfl::rotfl:
