Seeing my name second under all those ladies who are overdue now really focuses the mind! Ten days to go for me, and I am bricking it. Have done this once before, and it was not pretty. Still, keep telling myself it's only one day out of my life, possibly two, and then I have my baby boy. He still has no name cos husband and I cannot agree. Not sure what will happen when he comes. Can't see anything changing even then!

Quick question, anyone given birth at the Borders General in Melrose? Am going to stay with inlaws from Saturday so I can give birth up there but don't know anyone who has birthed there.

Choccy i dont believe it matters if the head is engaged or not as some babies dont engage until you are in labour :-)

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....

I have some stretchmarks and I'm only nearly 22 weeks and I never had any with DS and DS was asked by someone if I have a bump yet and he said "yes mum is very fat" and DH was asked at work and he too said I'm very fat and I have to deal with my belly button and and and...

    *sob*

...I'm now dealing with "scenes from Alien":eek::eek: Surely I shouldn't be dealing with "scenes from Alien" already??? It's like bean wants to escape already!!!:rotfl:Do you think all of the above are signs that he's gonna be early???

    Congrats Agutka... what a cutie!;):)

DS was a diddly 6lb 6 so I think anything is going to be big for me too!!:rotfl:

Isn't it strange how 2 pregnancies can be so completely different?? With DS I had no sickness, no bump until 6/7months, no problems until a few weeks before due date (pre eclampsia) and no stretchmarks!

This one has caused me nothing but problems from day 1, sickness, stretchmarks etc. I wonder if it's because it's a girl or just because?

Smartie- it's probably because it's your second bubs. Some people pop out much quicker with the second baby. Also position the baby is in can make a difference to your size and shape, as well as other factors like how much water you are carrying, pre baby weight etc etc...

All the Dr's/ MW charts like you to believe babies grow in a very smooth even curve but not always the case, they grow in spurts too so they may be bigger for middle trimester than your DS, but end up at a similar weight- it's all a guessing game! :D

What I'm trying to say in a long, waffley sort of a way, is that those signs alone, don't mean baby will be early (if you are worried about them being prem) but statistically second babies aren't as late as first babies (although again, your guess is as good as anyones :) my mum had me first and I was 2 days late, and both my younger brothers were 2 weeks late so.......)

ETA: this is my second time too and I was exactly the same as you! First time round was a breeze this time has been looooong (and still 6-8 weeks left :( ) and had lot's more issues.

I have to go with the girl theory myself. With DD1 i was sick constantly for about 6 months my bump felt like it was constantly going to burst, for the last two weeks i had a head to toe heat rash and the labour was horrendous. With DD1 & 2 pregnancies were easy and labours were too in comparison. With this one which we have been told is a girl i have been suffering with sickness, tireness, Constant backache and she kicks the carp out of me every night. Im just hopeing the labour will be easy this time i couldnt stand a repeat of DD1.

I know about the 2nd baby thing but 1st was 14 years ago so surely it's like my body is doing it for the first time???

I'm at risk of prem baby cos of various health problems and medication so it is on my mind.

I have had a "feeling" right from the start that it's gonna be early!! Now I've said that I'm going to go over 2 weeks now aren't I??:rotfl:
