Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for 14th April. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning.
Hi everyone.
Looks to be another good day of dry weather. Off to work soon, which includes a visit to the dentist at noon. Going to need a tooth re-filled as it's real sensitive. I hate paying the fixed fee, but I have to be thankful I have a dentist? Polish or otherwise......
Dell man came and fixed the computer again. 3rd time now, it's in effect a new computer. As in the past 6 months we have had a new hard drive, new motherboard and new screen. All free thanks to a free warrantee that came with it. The warrantee has been great, but the reliability very poor.
Well nothing new here, pay day tomorrow, trying to eat up contents of fridge and freezer... Have a good day

Good morning N9eav & all who follow.
Looks to be another nice day here too long may it continue
I have a dentist appointment too for a crown preperation as the old one came out and left the post that its attached to still in my tooth  Oh well it'll be worth it in the end.
Shopping this morning and the list looks like a shipping order as I kept the cost right down last week. I need everything from washing powder and loo rolls through to tomato sauce & mayo :rotfl:
Tea is takeaway :j which I'm really looking forward to. Lunch will be a sandwich & some soup that I found lurking in the freezer.
I'm enjoying my week off although I seem to be spending a lot of it trying to catch up with everything - I'll be glad to be back next Monday for the rest
Have a good day all & massive hugs to anyone who wants one xxx0 -
Morning all
Overcast here today, I'm shall spend today trying to Freegle yet more stuff & hope for better luck than yesterday.
I'm out for a drink tonight, it was meant to be a girls night out with 12 of us going, but now looks like it's down to 3 of us.
Spag bol tonight as we had one of the cottage pies I made yesterday.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all,
OH tripped on the stairs last night and sprained his ankle. I must confess I was a little unsympathetic as he only tripped because he’d left his boots on the stairs! I did so my first aid thing though, so he spent the evening watching TV with a bag of frozen cranberries on his foot. They needed using up anyway! He’s off work today as he can’t really stand, as he’d be a liability on a building site!
Finally decided on a mortgage yesterday so our friendly neighbourhood financial advisor is sorting that out for us today. Need to get copies of payslips etc to him.
OS today – LO HM lasagne for lunch (this goes towards our “eat eveything in the freezer before we move” challenge). Dinner will be pasta bake (with added mushrooms – also from the freezer). Need to pop to the post office to send gifts to various people (and a cheque to the solicitor. I have a feeling there will be a few of those!). Have a little ironing to do so will try and get that done. Finished the mini-book for my friends in the states (about our trip to Paris. In March 2009), so next job is to make some birthday cards.
Hugs to all,

Morning all,
Looks a bit dull here today, still at least its not raining. I am back to work today after my week off, would rather be at home.
Need to get dd up in a while, she can do some jobs for me, before she goes out with my sister later, the dw will need emptying, and she can hoover through.
Dinner tonight will be Ikea meatballs, with hm tomato sauce and spagetti, which I am really looking forward to.
My mum popped round on her way to the shop yesterday to ask if I needed anything, I asked her to get me a packet of spagetti, she came home with a FR chichen, 6 duck eggs, and a large ham knuckle, which came to £5, she keeps coming back with bargains for me, which I have to pay for, blowing the food budget a bit, and I only have a tiny freezer here, so I meal plan to have exactly what I need in there, but its getting filled with all her bargains :rotfl:I know she is only trying to help
Ok soup for lunch today, museli for breakfast.
My meeting went well yesterday, and my start my new at home job in two weeks time :T I am very pleased, and the money will come in handy.
Ok have fun all xx0 -
Good Morning All
Good luck with the dentist folks - I need to phone mine to make checkup appointments for us all.
Gemma - hope OH's ankle gets better - hopefully he will have learnt to put his boots away :rotfl:
Am on hold to the doc's surgery to try and get DS a appointment as needs his hayfever medicine. Its like a lottery trying to get an appointment. I am in a queue listening to bad music:o
Today will be doing some paperwork, washing and ironing. Will try and take DD to tiptree to but some craft stuff for a project she is doing.
Oh just got an appointment - 9:50 thats a result!
Anyway better get on, no sunshine here at the moment - fingers crossed.
Have a great day.x0 -

Nice day here today.Controlled explosion at a fire station in the city centre but was heard hear....well was heard by people who weren;t fast asleep in the chairMust admit it's a bit unsettling for me - DH is somewhat used to it having grown up during the troubles but has said before if it kicked off to the same degree as before the peace process he would move to the mainland to keep the kids away from it.
Anyway - OS wise - not alot today as I've a few ms-ing jobs to do but will try and get the place straightened up a bit before we head out. Didn't do a meal plan this week so I'm regretting it now as I have to think about what to do for dinner!
Right best get on

Taking the day off from the demolition site today, going to change a TV we got for the caravan as this one is too large for the special holder in it, even though we measured, it is as cheap to have a day out as pay for carriage to return, so will go a little further and visit some friends who are 20 miles from Blackpool, but may go a little earlier and have a walk along the prom as the weather is promised to be sunny.
Will take sandwiches for lunch and they have offered us tea, so will be a nice break.
Glad the "at home" job is happened RR.
(((Hugs))) as needed. Take care DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club

Good Morning OS people.
Cold in Glasgow today, but I have hopes of the clouds burning away so I can sit on my new almost finished patio! So chuffed, and it was all reused / recycled. It isn't the prettiest, but it does just fine, and once I've got my planters out and my plants in (decided on heathers) it will be gorgeous.
I have lovely garden furniture which I picked up in Bee and Queue last summer for a bargain of £110. I had a look online to see if they had any chairs which would match, and found a review for my furniture, which had been a 2008 range, and sold at ............wait for it.... £600!!! That was a bargain, I love it and my DSIL when she saw it loved it, and couldn'tbelieve how cheap it had been - she's in Switzerland, and everything is extortionate there!
So that's my garden. Today I have DS2's friend for the whole day, he arrived at 7.45, my two are still asleep. At the moment he is regalling OH and I by performing "Clash of The Titans" which he saw at the weekend.:rotfl:I will be making roasted red onion and sweet potato soup and some Twinks today, and possibly some sort of rustic bread. Never made BB's apple scones yesterday, so plan on that today too.
OH has just discovered the PS3 is broken, so off to the techie board for help.:eek:
Hugs to all that need them, have a lovely day.

off to work later but only a half day as I've booked this evening off.
have had a quick tidy and clean up and the washing is on the line. Nothing much else to report today.
Donny - hope you enjoy your day out!
good luck to those with doctors or dentists appointments x
Diva - hope you're having a good rest x

Morning everyone.
Only got 3 kids here today, the older one is at her aunts which makes life a tiny bit easier. Dull, dark and overcast but we're still going to the park :rotfl: Need to get the kids out of the house. OK they spend several hours a day now in the garden but they love the slides etc so it makes a nice change and it's free
Watched Spoilt Rotten on BBC1 last night  Those poor kidsImagine a 2 year old having to have baby teeth removed due to tooth decay
I confess I did sit ranting at some of the parents who claim they are doing everything they can to help their kids
Tea tonight will be quick and easy so something on toast. I am trying a new tap class tonight. the other class I tried was OK but the teacher didn't make any effort to break down the routine and show me - I am expected to just pick it up each week. Well with tap routines that isn't so easy. Anyway giving another one a try so hoipefully this will be better
DD has turned into a total mare  If she doesn't want picking up all the time she's throwing horrendous [STRIKE]screaming fits[/STRIKE] strops and it's really getting me down. I can't carry her as much as it gives me a bad back and the rest of the time I can't do anything else with her
Anyway enough of my moaning. Am hoping it's a veeeeeeeeeeery short phase
Those of you who have the dentist good luckNo fillings in my mouth so far - I hope that continues for the next 35 years too :rotfl:
Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
