Recieved a letter today off Boots about an aftershave promotion. It is addressed to me a MR but the opening line reads

WE KNOW YOU LIKE TO TREAT YOUR MAN NOW AND AGAIN. HERES SOMETHING YOULL BOTH LOVE.

I just think this is out of order for them to send a letter addressed to me personally yet open the start of the letter like that, no one should presume someones sexuality.

Anyone any ideas on what I should do and what i should ask for.

It has really annoyed me!

If you are really annoyed by it, just send them a letter/email telling them so, although I am not sure what you should (reasonably) ask for other than an apology, or did you have some form of compensation in mind

I don't think you can really ask for anything, its a simple mistake. These things happen all the time with mailmerges and databases sending out standard letters.

Send it into the Guardian Weekend's 'Ouch!' column - they love misprints like that, and you might get some money for it!

Absolutely outrageous. You should write a strongly worded letter to Boots head office immediately. I would expect that compensation for mental anguish caused by this to be worth around £50.
