ROFL. I get flylady emails, I shine my sink, do my 15 minutes and thats about as far as it goes... but when I hang washing on the line I have found that I match the pegs - I have "not seen" something when I didn't have a matching peg and slung it back in the washing machine to be re-washed...:o

In our house we have a white board in the kitchen anything that runs low or you take the 'spare' from the cupboard you write it down, I only shop from the list, it took some training but it's rare when we run out of anything now.
As for the cleaning, I split the house into areas and tackle a bit a day, Flylady inspired, means I only have to do a bit which is managable considering I'm not a natural housewife.
I also keep a list of jobs that I notice that need doing but don't have time to do then and there, keeps me from getting bored LOL
A bit of dirt won't kill you or the kids! Treat it as a learning experience for you all and remember you're a TEAM.0 -
You see, the problem is, now you've posted -
The Flyladies know you're here
It's not that bad - there's the daily keep stuff clean and not building up - washing up as you go along, bunging a load in the washing machine before you have 10 loads to do on a sunday night, making sure anyone looking down the loo doesn't feel nauseous or if using the sink doesn't get covered in toothpaste.
Other than that, then there's the less frequent stuff, which still needs to be done to some extent but can easily get overlooked when you haven't had to do it before - which is where our illustrious leader comes in with her weekly plans!
Go on, have a look - Flylady for tomorrow has just started, it's fine to just post when you have time, or ask questions, etc.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
RE laundry, tell the kids you will not wash anything they have only worn for 2 hours!! make them fold it up and get another wear out of it, if its still clean, i mean tops or casual stuff, just put on after school etc.
they are !!!!!!s for wanting everything washed !! there jeans dont need washed after one wear either!
Same with towels. dont let them take a new towel every shower or hairwash.0 -

I think I get it nowPlease don;t confuse the American Flylady site with all its rules and millions of e-mails, with the MSE Flyladies :rotfl: We're completely different. There's a list of task, posted daily, so that you;re not overwhelmed. There are 3 levels, so beginners can start by just doing the Level 1 tasks and work up from there.
A new thread starts today, so it's an ideal time to come along and join in :j

Hi there
I have suddenly become a lone parent to two great kids - 14 and 12. I work full time, and am struggling to manage all the household tasks.
I've never had to keep house before and I have some really dumb questions to ask... please bear with me!
How often do you need to do the following kind of things:
Change bedding
Defrost the freezer
Hoover
Wash windows
Wash curtains
I'm sure I'll think of other things.
Also, how do you manage your time? And how do you get the kids involved? Bribery/pay them? What sort of things is it okay for them to do at the age they are?
Please don't send me to flylady - I had a look there and was utterly baffled!
Thanks for your help.
Hi
The flylady thread is a great incentive and they dont bite honestly they help me to keep on top of the housework.
As for children they should be helping without you having to pay them, my girls are 9 and 13 they clean their bedroom and keep it tidy put their washing away change their own beds each week, and they empty one shelf of the dishwasher each every night, when you are working you dont want to spend all your time doing housework when your home, it does children good to have jobs to do and teaches them life skills for when they a have a place of their own.
