    Hi Dadoftwo

My Dad was also a dad of two, suddenly a lone parent aged 50, to a 6yo boy and 8yo girl, as we were at the time - Mum passed away.

He had always been the worker and Mum stayed at home - he had no idea when left to it and we were younger than your two.

At first it was difficult, although in hindsight also sometimes very funny - shop bought meals like shpeherd's pies, meat pies all served with mash, overcooked cabbage, tinned peas and carrots. I now refuse to serve mash at any meal. As he got more experienced he got braver - roast lamb placed on the oven shelves - he only did that once as it took forever to clean the mess Roast chicken cooked from frozen and including the giblets in the plastic bag - why was I the only one who got ill!
Running out of clothes as he had no idea what could be washed with what - it was a twin tub so didn't matter but he did not know.

I suppose what I am trying to say is there will be difficult times but if you work as a team you will get there.

Best wishes and let us know how you get on

    Evening all,

Sorry I've been MIA - not much flying to report since my first couple of stars at the beginning of the week, apart from meal planning and food shopping, but I've been researching my wedding - finally after 8 years of being together!:j

I had always wanted to get married on a beach somewhere hot, because neither of us are religious or have big families, and I think we've finally settled on Jamaica.

We would be staying here (Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa) for 2 weeks, and our family would be staying here for the first week. I'm so excited! We haven't booked it yet, as we need to speak to my family yet, which I'm a bit worried about, as my Mum isn't 100% behind us getting married (she always pictured me with a doctor or something and thinks after 8 years, the wedding will never happen), but Moon likes the look of it, and having spent all evening looking at photos, it looks amazing.

Just seen the time - suppose I'd better go and put some dinner on and pack a lunch in case I get called for supply tomorrow.

    sexymouse xx
