Fairly quiet day here too... I started with some school work, then a couple of hours on the allotment, planting another lot of potatoes.
I went into town with DD this afternoon, we were supposed to have DS2 with us as well, but he wasn't ready in time, so we went and shopped without him. I didn't buy anything, but found a perfect pair of shoes for DD's birthday outing.
embb - oh, I'm really thrilled to hear you've got the gardening bug! If I can get DS1 to help, I'll put on some pics of my garden, which (if you ignore the gaps about to be replanted) is looking really pretty at the moment. I'm counting tulip buds in the front garden at the moment (as pleasant a way to spend the time as any).I planted 20 bulbs of one variety in 2005, and have 40 buds on the clump at the moment - quite a decent rate of return!
toots - you've still got time to sow hardy annuals, in tubs or direct in the soil. They're cheap to buy, and usually do really well. I grow annuals every year, mostly, but not exclusively on the allotment, some for cutting, and some just cos they're pretty!
Love and hugs to Lady-Liberty, Toots, and Diva.It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -
Much better day today:D. Now I have organised myself for Nan's funeral I am in a better place in my head.
DS3 had his birthday party this morning. It was horrendously expensive but well worth it. Luckily his friends are fabulous and behaved better than I ever would have hoped the would. I would never have coped if I was DIY IFKWIM. DS3 has had the best day. Party this am and his first ever trip to watch football with DH, DD1, DS1 & 2. He has joined the 'big uns' He came home buzzing and then opened his pressies from the party.
On the negative side DD2 is still poorly and fell asleep on DD1's lap during he party. She was very violently sick in the car on the way home from the party, I only had DD2 and a friend of DS3's in the car. Friend was in the car as her mum can't drive as she has just had a c.section. I was mortified as Mum had a 2 week old baby and her child was in a car that was COVERED in vomit.:eek::eek:.
on a flying note I have scrubbed my car several times over to get rid of the above and the W/M was well used today!
Now really enjoying Britains Got Talent.:D0 -

Sparkles:
Given up flying for today, wrestling with my meal plan..."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Marru, I made a fantastic master list of all the meals we like to help me when I meal plan each week, it was in a blue mini-binder I got from Asda...anyone seen it?????? Yes I lost it...so now I am back to square one, it had recipes and everything :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
Too organised for me obviously
Have just watched programmes with OH and had 2 glasses of wine (had just enough points left!) Now off to bed and will finish (and find!) lists in the morning (no church this week and no shopping either :j:j:j:j)
Oh and I guess I had better do some planning for school tomorrow as well
Oh and cut the grass
Oh and build my cold frame
EEK my list gets bigger and biggerGo hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last0 -
I'd forgotten how much work it is having other people in the house!
The dog is cross as my mother has decided to sleep on the sofa bed in the sitting room (apparently my spare room and bed are too small to share with my dad, but she's been told she still has to keep all her stuff in the spare room as we have friends dropping in all week) so the dog has been relocated to the utility room rather than sleeping in the sitting room as she normally does.
Supper has been eaten (sausages, mash, purple sprouting, spinach followed by rhubarb pie & cream), but because I've been cooking the DW doesn't have room for everything and because the dog is in the utility room the DW can't go on! Still, the house is pretty tidy... and I've given my mother the meal plan for the week so there is no discussion about what we're supposed to be having and no faffing about.
My dad has given the hedge at the front of the house a major haircut (it nearly collapsed in the snow) and also emptied most of the contents of the shed into the garden, so it now looks much as embb's garden probably did before she went to the tip today
Tomorrow will involve clearing my bedroom so my dad can put the new windowsill on, then cleaning up afterwards; clearning the rest of the hedge clippings and doing a couple of tip runs. Also need to buy a new rake, a couple of water butts and telescopic pruners - and going to the farmers' market for more veg (all the extra people eat so much!) and a chicken for Sunday/Tuesday supper.
I think it'll probably be a relief to head off to work on Monday morning...0 -
