It's Argos' responsibility to make sure everything they sell is fit for sale/purpose, of course they should be checking all returns, could have been a box of razor blades put in there by a miffed customer!! WHAT PLANET DO YOU LIVE ON?!?

Could have been an Atomic Bomb as well but it wasn't :D

As was said before, mistakes happen, it's hardly worth getting worked up over is it? A quick email to CS usually solves these things.

Unless of course you think there is a conspiracy of Argos employees purposely putting returns back into circulation in some evil revenge against the customer?

I've always had good experiences with Argos. They've always replaced items promptly, and everythings been packaged properly. It might be just the branch you went to.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I had the same happen to me the other week. I returned the item, spoke to the Store Manager politely. Explained situation and he gave me a new Camera and £50 back as a refund.

They should/must make sure they do not place customer returns / faulty goods back into normal stock.

    Bad practice.

The key is be firm, but polite!

Hmmm, if it's a 40 min drive for OP, I think I'd be emailing Argos to say thanks ever so much, you can come and collect / replace thank you very much! Or cover the cost of my return petrol (£10??).

I bought a hairdryer that came with accessories from Argos. The hairbrush had hair in it. Mmm, lovely.

Been caught twice in the past with Argos selling goods that were used, now whenever I buy anything from them I either make sure it has its original seal or if not sealed insist on checking it before I leave the premises.

I think I would be generous to call you naive.

thanks for the insult, I would rather think that I am not naive but realistic in that mistakes happen in companies that serve hundreds of thousends of people each year

Your point was one I would agree with but as I said mistakes happen and for you to think that mistakes of this manner do not happen would make me question which planet you were living on!

I bought an item from Argos, got home, found it was broken, called them and they told me to bring it back - nearest store is a 60 mile round trip and I was given a £25 voucher for the inconvenience.

I have continued to shop there because in many cases I get more value for my £1 and I cant afford to never shop there again.

They should give you petrol money back, they did with me when they sold me a second hand used printer that was meant to be new a few years ago
