Argos Selling used items as new

Hi all I am furious  with Argos just bought a Greco pack n play area for children got it home opened the box set it up, there where other childrens toys already in it and stains on the bottom. The canopy was broken. Someone must of returned it to the store and instead of returning it to the Greco they have just resold it.
I am shocked a big company would do this, I will never buy anything from Argos again. After Driving 40 mins to pick it up as well and wasting a lovely sunny day.
Has anything like this happened to anyone else?
Anyway Rant over

It annoys me when customers jump to this presumption that Argos did it on purpose
1) The customer could have returned it just saying it was not what they wanted and as such Argos didn't check it
2) Someone could have accepted it back faulty and then someone else could have accidently put it back in stock
Accidents happen, get over it, yes it was unfortunate but it's not the end of the world and hopefully they apologised for the mistake.Always ask ACAS0 -
ive found ARGOs staff alot worse than TESCO staff and thats saying something.
argos have a bad rep for not being customer friendly0 -

No excuse. Argos should have checked that it was satisfactory for resale. Accidentally put it back in stock? More likely the staff couldn't be bothered to deal with the paperwork to return the substandard goods!
It is likely to have been an accident rather done on purposeAlways ask ACAS0 -

It's Argos' responsibility to make sure everything they sell is fit for sale/purpose, of course they should be checking all returns, could have been a box of razor blades put in there by a miffed customer!! WHAT PLANET DO YOU LIVE ON?!?0 -
As a frequent Argos shopper, I learnt to open up the goods when I go to collect them before leaving the store. I still have this problem when I don't check the items properly but Argos don't seem to improve this part of their service so yeah it sucks.0

Thanks for all you replies. I have had an email back from Argos
Thank you for your email, I am sorry that you have had a problem with your Graco pack n play purchased from our store.
May I assure you that it most certainly is not Argos? intention to sell goods, which are in anything other than pristine condition. Any products that have been used, or show signs of use, must be returned to our warehouses. Although on this occasion our returns system has obviously let us down, with a used item slipping back into our new stock.
In order to resolve please return to store with your item and receipt and we will be happy to help, as you have your receipt you can return to any Argos store.
May I thank you, once again, for taking the time to bring this matter to our attention. It is only through contact with our customers that we learn of these problems and can take actions to put them right.
Im glad they replied to me so quick even though it is a bit of a fob off. Argos should check everything especially items intended for children. Ive been reading horror stories about what people have been sold by Argos now and will never buy anything from there again.0 -
Good for you. It's a shame you have to do the running about though, just to get what's yours. Good advice to check before you leave the shop, even if it's just the sellotape seals! I certainly will in future.0
