Fair enough. I know when I asked I was told I had to keep the package I subscribed to for 12 months before I could change any of it. (this was about 8-9 months ago)

you've certainly been miss advised there, you can chop and change your tv package - any discounts relate to the fact you have tv - not which package you are on.

now i've stopped working for virgin i almost always call through to the retentions team as i know they are in the uk & they generally have more power to do things than other teams. if i were you i would call them and ask to change - if the person you speak to does their job properly they will also review your full package & offer a discount - if there is one.

if you don't get the answer you want call them back

Sorry Grimlea, can you just clarrify...I am halfway through my initial 12 month contract. Are you saying that I should be able to up or downgrade any of the 3 services (BB, TV & Phone) that I have? Is it possible to completly remove, say, TV? Or would I only be able to do this is I upgraded one of the other services to retain the monthly cost of the contract to its current level.

Any help on this matter gratefully received!

I had to move to a non cable area after 5 months of my VM contract. When I phoned them, they said they can provide me Phone + BB only in the non cable (via a BT line), but that was close to £10 more compared to other standard BB package. So I decided to terminate my contract with VM. For that, they charged me a fee of £120. The guy from retention told me that that fee is going un in near future.

Though they said they will send a prepaid envelope to return their hardware, they never did that. I think after 6 months of leaving the service, you are free to dispose off the VM hardware.

    No,you are not.
Collections are done by an outside agency as I stated before. If you dispose of the equipment then they can bill you up to £250 as cost of replacement, then if you dont pay up or return the equipment, they go the debt collection route which may affect your credit file.
The jiffy bage were originally sent out to return the old Analouge STB's,the standard method of collection now is by the agency.
They have been known to chase up equipment over a year later.Part of the job when I started with NTL as an installer was disconnections & collections before they put it out to contract tender.

(After we were made redundent from NTL/VM,some of us went to work for this agency.I did'nt,I walked into a job with Sky)
