Happy meal for sad sack alert

My own gripe is with one particular branch of McDs who, on several occasions have had problems with their Card Merchant system. In itself that's not really worth griping about. However the attitude of the cretins behind the counter when attempting to use a card in this situation leaves much to be desired. I've probably got around 12 years of customer-facing experience in different establisments, including my own shop, and I'd never treat customers as rudely as the McDonalds Molluscs treated me on at least two separate occasions.
First time I got to the counter, gave my order and got my card out to put in the machine only to be addressed with the monosyllabic gruntings thusly "can't take cards". Not in the least bit apologetic. Not even a hastily-hand-written sign with the words "Cash only, card machine broken" on it to save people wating in the queue.
Second time was the Drive-Through-Incident.. Waited in a longish queue (with a hungry toddler in the back of the car) to get to the stupid intercom thing. Half way through the order, I was abruptly interrupted by the cretin demanding to know how I was paying. When I told her card, I got treated to a similar defiant, unapologetic "machine's broken, cash only".
Manners cost nothing, It's not MY fault their card system has broken. So why are they so petulant when their equipement breaks down? And why is it too much trouble to put up a sign saying "Sorry, card machine out of order"?0 -
I would imagine they split the receipt because of the drinks. Milk is not vatable if taken away, which is why they ask you if you are eating in or out. Not just so they know how to package your food, but so they can account for vat correctly.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100

A little off topic.....Sorry.
I was in Macdonalds on Friday with my wife and child,My child had a Hamburger happy meal,i cannot remember the price though.
Mcd's are now running this Monopoly thing where with you meal you can pull off a little tab and you could win instantly or play the game by collecting them.
so we are sitting there talking and we get interupted by a young(Polish i think, but cannot be sure) girl with baby in pushchair asking if we played the game,if not could she have the tabs.I didnt say anything however the look that i gave her i think spoke volumes,we were sitting there eating when she interupted us.She then went around the other tables collected a few and left.
As for the happy meal,my daughter polished it off.Forum spellcheckers are the pitts.0 -

Wow, rude much? A simple, "Sorry, we're collecting them" would have sufficed. It's not like she asked to take a dump in your burger! We are born wet, naked, and hungry. Then things get worse.

There was a massive sign up in the windows of a drive through we went to recently advertising Happy Meals with a big thing saying £2.19. I only remember this because I was saying to the missus that they have been £1.99 for years and now they've put them up 20p.If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.0

Do you do the same when you're in a restaurant and you've just got your meal and a member of staff comes over to ask if everything's ok?
Surely it would have been easier to tell her she couldn't have them.
Saying that though we don't go to Maccy's to often and won a cheese burger and some porridge the other day which I gave to the local homeless fella so he could at least have a bit of breakfast and lunch

Oh crikey, late night happy meals reminds me of a very, very drunk night I had out once.
It was when Narnia came out in the cinema and McDs were giving away Aslan toys in their happy meals.
I decided that I wanted an Aslan so much that I asked for one with my Big Mac. The guy serving knew me through association with my friends who used to work with him, so he said he'd give me a toy for free, but there was one Aslan left and a Kid had asked for one in his happy meal just before me.
My reply was, "!!!!!!?" I looked round to see a 7 year old sitting at a table at the other end of the store. "What's a 7 year old doing out at 11 at night?"
I don't recall what happened next, but there is a video of me on youtube playing with the Aslan toy while eating a burger, so I know I got my way. I think the kid ended up with one of the less important characters.0 -

To be honest I would rather them hike the price up and make their food decent quality

This post made me literally laugh out loud. Can we have a link to the video? :rotfl:0
