Broadband & Line Rental

Options
Hi
I'm currently on plusnet broadband - £14.99 a month
and BT line rental at £11 a month

I never use any calls on my landline as i have an iPhone. I'd like to reduce my bill but not sure who is best package. Phone calls are not important. Mobile broadband not really an option.
Thanks

Why are you paying £14.99? Plusnet Value broadband is either £5.99 or £11.99 dependent on exchange status-which exchange and package are you on?

Best package will depend what is available LLU on your exchange.

I was going to ring plusnet and ask them to change but when I looked the £11.99 one goes upto £15 after 3 months.

My exchange is Selby. Only got Sky, and talktalk and o2 on llu. 21 meg scheduled for march 2010 but not happened yet.

Then you are on Plusnet Premium, £11.99, then £15.99 after 3 months. If you can live with 10GB a month allowance then you can get Plusnet Value for £5.99 a month-Selby is a Market 3 exchange.
But for you by far the best unlimited option is O2 Home (LLU) at £7.50 a month with the mobile discount, or £12.50 without.

  • Thanks.
I'd looked at O2 as I'm on iPhone contract too. Read lots of bad reports about poor speeds on a night.

Almost all the complaints posted about O2 relate to the Access service (non LLU), which is indeed very poor. If you can get LLU then this is not relevant.
Your Plusnet package is a legacy tariff, Value and Premium are the current tariffs. If the 10GB is enough for you, and you don't want to switch ISP's, then change to Value and you can get that for £5.99,

    Ah right thanks.
Yeah O2 has LLU at the Selby exchange.
Is it a case of ring them and say I want to be on the LLU one and not the normal one?

If there is LLU available on the exchange and free capacity on it you will automatically be put on LLU.

Don't ring them though - signup for a quidco or topcashback account and join online through on of those - not sure of current cashback but it is usually at least £50

Do not take the O2 Access product - £17 pre discount and 8Mbps maximum

LLU is not an option, if O2 are available LLU on your exchange then LLU is what you will be offered. I suggest you get your MAC and then sign up online to get the Quidco cashback.
If you use the number checker on the O2 site then it will tell you what speeds and tariffs are available. All the tariffs except Access are LLU only.
Edit: kwikbreaks beat me to it.

    Thanks guys.
Didn't realise the O2 problems were just on there non llu products.
Which Access tariff do you mean? I can only find standard, pro and premium.
I might as well sign up for upto 20 meg. Our exchange was supposed to be done by 31st March 2010 but not been done yet.
