  • Hello, this is my first post, hope this is the right place for it...

I buy the basics/value teabags which are normally 27p for 80 bags. I noticed in Sainsbobs this morning that the shelf label had changed to 27p for 50 bags! The packs on the shelf were still packs of 80's, but there were hardly any left, I don't know whether they are running down the stocks before introducing the new pack size.

I splashed out and bought 4 boxes lol:)

That's still less than half a pence per bag though :T. Makes you wonder what they put in them to keep them so cheap.

Princes 4 packs of tuna have gone down by about 15g drained weight as they are half price at work and could see there was a good 2cm shorter in height than the larger pack.

Still listing on their website as 80 with the 80 in large writing on the box.

Also never come across 50 bags for tea as they come in multiples of 40 - 40, 80, 120, 160 etc. Well, you may find the posh teabags in packs of 50. Looks like a typo error.

MrT value minced beef, now 750g & £2:34  Not exactly sure when it happened but for some reason I made an effort to read the label this time.

If memory serves me well ( :rotfl: ) it's lost 50g in weight & gained 14p in price.

I went to replace my Lazy Garlic in Sainsbury's on Friday. Jar size had shrunk to 125g compared to the 200g jar I'm just finishing. I couldn't believe my eyes, it looked like something out of a dolls' house.

Price per kg has gone from £7.35 to £11.90:eek:

I notice on mysupermarket Asda is still showing the 200g jars.

Today I bought a 330g jar of minced garlic for £1.99 from my local Asian store. Something else crossed off the supermarket shopping list!

    Slight variation:

Ben and Jerry's. The newish core varieties seem to be a way to sell less ice cream for the same price - displace the quality (sic) expensive ice cream ingredients with a massive wedge of sugary cheap goop.

What is worse is the double hit - not only cheaper ingredients but they then charge more for those varieties!
  • Munching my way through a bag of Seabrooks crisps yesterday and was shocked to see it was only 25grammes! It was from a multipack so not sure if the single packs are also now 25g and the size is not mentioned on thier website.
They used to be 32g by the way so that equates to a price increase of around 20%.
Still the best crisps IMO but who wants a bag of crisps with a poxy 25g in it?

    Ian.

Agree they're the best crisps. I bought the multipacks when they were on offer at £1 in Sainsbury's but now they'e back to £1.69 (?) they're off the list (still cheap in Farmfoods but not the plain ones I like).

I've started to use 150g for £1 as my yardstick for buying branded crisps, that's a big bag or 6 x 25g in a multipack. Last week I saw some Kettle crisps for £1 but then noticed they were just 125g. They were the ridged ones but it made me wonder if all the recent £1 offers on Kettle crisps is because they're clearing them planning to bring out smaller bags.
