The Great 'Shrinking Food' Hunt

I noticed today in Tesco, that the Yorkshire Tea loaves have changed their packaging - they have gone from being a rich and vibrant foil packed packaging to a boring a dull cheap plastic packaging.
Upon handling the new package, it seemed much smaller than the previous product, I have some of the old style here but they dont have a weight on them - the new style says 400g. I am almost certain the new ones are shorted, is anyone able to confirm?
Btw, the price has not changed either, still £1.96...0 -

Just doing my weekly online shop and have noticed that pilgrims choice choice has gone from a 400g block to a 370g block. Although it is on offer at the minute, the price isn't reduced. Naughty, naughty0

Doritos pack size has gone down from 225g to 200g over the last couple of weeks. Price has stayed the same.
I'm sure the bags were 300g about a year ago as well!!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
How tiny are Flakes these days? I was shocked at how much they have been shrunk.0

We should all be getting smaller too but that doesn't seem to be working!" The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

The thing is the shrinking food is making us buy then eat more. I know people that eat 2 Penguin bars as they aren't big as they used to. Currently a Penguin biscuit weighs 24g. If the original weighed 35g (using this weight as an example) then eating 2 smaller Penguins mean that the person will consume 37% more calories, fat and sugars than what was contained in the larger bar.
Times that across all the food and what do you get? Obesity.0 -
I have noticed Plenty kitchen roll can vary in price but when you look closely it has less sheets in it and the quality seems poor too:p
You are absolutely right about this because I found an old roll and it was a much thicker ply. They seem to have developed a method to make it as thin as it can possibly be, it's just about still visible to the naked eye.
I've also noticed that they've done the same thing to Bacofoil.
At Christmas when I was cooking my turkey, every time I went to remove the foil to baste it, the foil would rip at the slightest touch.
I ended up replacing it a few times and I've never had to do that before.
And while we're on the thickness of things, a Jacob's cream cracker
can't even support the weight of a topping like a slice of cheese and tomato without breaking into bits all over the place when you try to take a bite out of it.0
