This one goes back a while but I remember buying Appletise in Asda 1 litre bottles for £1.40 ish on a good day. It was rebranded as Appletiser in 750 cl bottles
Yes that was some time ago. I found a 750 ml bottle in my cupboard - there was a competition on it which ended in 2007! (Contents tasted OK yesterday though.)

There used to be 5. Now there's 4 in a pack however I do think they've adjusted the price down to make it £2

I'm working in South Korea at the moment, and like in seemingly most countries, tubes of Pringles can be found in virtually every corner shop. Up until a couple of months ago, they were in the same size (230g) can that you regularly find in the UK, and had a Pringles logo on the seal. Then, around the end of February, they mysteriously shrank - the tubes are now smaller in diameter and look out of proportion, and the weight is now down to 200g. Initially I thought the shop was importing fake Pringles, as the packaging has changed slightly and the seal is now plain white - but the new size cans are now everywhere, in every store. I was in Japan last weekend and saw the same thing there as well - so it's probably only a matter of time until European Pringles get downsized too :(

They are now only 165 grams!!!!! Advertised as '90 pringles' on the can:(

  • Could have sworn that Weetabix used to be thicker... Packets still list the number of bisks inside, but no longer have any weight indication... There's now 2-3cm of space inside the top of the cardboard box, which there never used to be... The boxes are the same size as ever... Telling? Isn't this sort of thing illegal?
    ...

Yes, Weetabix has definitely shrunk; remember having to break it in half so it would fit in my breakfast bowl...now it just fits:p

Creme Eggs have definitely shrunk.I can get a whole egg in my mouth without disgusting my hubby:p

I remember a few years ago, someone in work knitting "chicken" covers for Easter that you put an egg inside.

I tried an egg this Easter, and they're so much smaller now that it fell out of the opening!

Mars Bars have been doing this for years. They shrink the bar then bring out a 'Giant Mars Bar' at an increased price. Shrinkage continues and then the smaller bar is discontinued. The giant bar then becomes the regular bar. The process is then repeated. This can take a few years but I remember noticing this in the 1960's.

    maybe it's just me, but....
If the 'giant bar becomes the regular bar', how is that shrinkage?

Really, what do you expect? Of course you're going to pay more or get less or even both over time! Icky 15 is absolutely spot on with the Mars Bar 'Con'. Well, it's not a con really, just another way of doing a price increase. Why do you think Bounty is in two parts instead of one. It's not so you can share with your pal.... you get a bit less than the shape of the pack suggests and do you really think that the hole in a Polo is for your enjoyment? Not a whinge, just an observation on life.
