Sugar Puffs - definitely much smaller. Hadnt bought them for ages but they were on offer for £1 (Asda, I think). Opened them expecting to be transported back to my childhood only to discover teeny weeny little puffs of whatever they are. Most disappointing. I shall be writing to my MP, I'm sure with the election coming up this is the right time to be approaching him on this and other matters such as the major shrinkage problem of the wagon wheel.

  • have you noticed the sneaky way they have got smaller, by introducing little cut outs on the sides that are supposed to make it easier to hold them. It did not fool me and I reckon about a 1/4 of the cube has been lost like this.

No, you’re not dreaming! Your groceries are shrinking. Manufacturers’ latest wheeze’s to drop products’ sizes, but keep prices the same. So we’d love to get your feedback on any food you've seen shrinking.

Please press reply to share your experiences.

    Are you sure it shrunk?

Its easy to think things used to be bigger (i remember when Wagon Wheels were twice the size of my hands!) so please try and back it up with the stats and measures if you can.

P.S. Thanks to the Daily Mail journalist who suggested this thread. It was so popular we decided to reformat it and include in the weekly email.

Yep I noticed recently that johnsons baby wipes now contain 68 wipes, they used to have 84 in them! thanks for the heads up on the other items will look out for them and pay more attention now
  • This one goes back a while but I remember buying Appletise in Asda 1 litre bottles for £1.40 ish on a good day. It was rebranded as Appletiser in 750 cl bottles and the price is now somewhere around £2 - £2.50. I now wait for Sainsbury's to put it on a bogof and stock the cupboard!:)

Sent a complaint to Copella via their website and this is the response I got from them:

    Dear Ms xxx

Thank you for your recent email regarding our Copella Juice.

First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to say we are delighted to hear you are such a strong advocate of our Copella Juice. I am sorry to hear of your disappointment regarding our recent package and pricing changes.

The reason we have undertaken these changes has been based on intensive Market Research which has shown us that the majority of Copella consumers have suggested that the 750ml bottle is better suited their needs,

Who are these weirdos that don't like juice in 1l containers?!
I hope other juices don't start with the smaller size too, I already 'have' to buy my OH 6 x 1L of OJ a week:eek:

  • Herbal Essences shampoos and conditioners. 400ml to 200ml. Thought was a new size but tesco charged the same as before!
  • Just a few items to look out for:

Their fresh salmon is good, but they are now cutting thicker slices for both prepack and serve off the iced counter. When challenged, they admit it, to increase revenue. Ask to have slices cut to the thickness you need - they will do it!

Jordans Crunchy Oats have reduced their packet size from 1kg to 750gm for the same price! Wow!

Watch out for the price of cider. The government put up the special cider tax and the cider I buy went up immediately by 10%. ( I thought it was only the tax that went up by 10%, not the retail price?). Then the rise could not be put into effect (the election), but have the prices gone down? Well, yes, but not back to where they were.

Often the prices are sneaky. I buy a certain good-value wine at £3.75/bottle (6 months ago it was £3.34), but be careful of the boxes of the same wine; equivalent to £4.00 per bottle. How do I know? Good eyesight! The comparison is in the smallest small print I have ever seen.

I could go on, and on ... I really do feel very angry with Morrisons. I notice their profits just rise and rise. The problem is, which supermarket is not ripping of the consumer?

Don't know when you think the change happened. I have a 200 ml bottle of Herbal Essences shampoo in the welcome basket in my guest bedroom. It's been there for at least two years. (I think they used to do both sizes - perhaps they still do.)

I am reliably informed, by a person who eats the muck, that KFC's bargain bucket at £9.99 used to contain 10 pieces of "chicken" but now contains only 8. For the same price. A 25% decrease he reckons...but then his brain cells have been eaten away by junk food so dont blame me if that figure is wrong :D
