i think you'll find that a 33% reduction. if it were 50% it would now be 750ml...
I am a food packer and wanted to put the other side of the story accross. We are being hit by the most ridiculous price rises in raw materials that we have ever seen. in some instances we have witnessed an increase of over 200%. our costs are also rising, BUT you lot (aka the customers) want everything to cost less!!! unfortunately, it just can't happen.
Furthermore, the reason why we reduce weights/sizes is because many products have a natural price point. you can't suddenly start charging £1 for a milky way, or £2 for a small bag of nuts, so in reducing the weight, we can keep products at their price point.
Please don't always assume that we are getting greedy, because the truth is in fact the complete opposite! i am part of a trade organisation that represents small independant companies and 7 of them (small companies) have gone bust in the past couple of months due to these price rises.
Remember too, in order to get the best value, shop around, don't just march to your supermarket!!!!!0 -

If you were going from 1L to 1.5L, that would be a 50% increase...

Someone mentioned earlier in the thread about how to gang up on the supermarkets. The simplest and most effective way is just not to buy any of these items when you notice the deceitful way a product is upped in price whilst reduced in volume. If no-one buys the item in the first place then these firms might sit up and take notice. The person mentioning 'having to buy two smaller bags of mussels now' only has themselves to blame really......0

I think that mouse may be taking moneysaving a bit too far. :rotfl:0 -

First post done!! MSE cherry popped lol
That's the old imperial pound weight, converted to metric. Didn't used to be thought of as unusual when everything was sold that way.;)0 -
£2 cheddar was 300g now 250g!0

Oxo are now creating a grove in 4 sides of the oxo cube making it look like an X, thus reducing the quantitiy in the cube, as the overall dimensions are the same as before.0

ASDA had some packs of sausages for £1 recently. Looked good until I notced there were only 6 in a pack, instead of the usual 8. Fair enough though, it was clearly marked so I bought them anyway as still not a bad price. It was only when I opened them that I found the sausages were considerably shorter than normal. Not able to see this through the packaging. Sneaky. :mad:0

I know they're not food but...
Fairy liquid doesn't do what it used to! I used dilute the bottle by 50% - easier than squeezing less. Now it lasts no longer/washes up no better than cheaper liquids.
Smokers watch out - some tobacco now sold in odd sizes eg 23g instead of 25g packs; and watch out for 'cheap' cigarettes with only 18 or 19 in a pack.0
