Well - I sometimes like to have a glass of wine or two with dinner. The small bottles of wine that supermarkets do used to be just right for two glasses worth. Now they've reduced the size to 1.5 glasses worth - but are still charging the same.

Can't make up my mind whether they want me to buy 2 small bottles of wine - to get my usual 2 glasses worth - or buy a large bottle.

At the moment - I'm resorting to going to Marks & Spencers instead for my mini bottles of wine (as they still do the standard 2 glass size of mini bottle). Tough on Tesc* and Sainsb*rys though - as they are losing that bit of money I would have otherwise spent with them:D.

I think Marks & Spencers must be operating some sorta "angle" here of "We think people will notice what the supermarkets are up to here - and come to us specially for those mini-bottles of wine - and, whilst they're here they will buy some of our other products as well". Errrr.....it works....I do....:o

Conspiracy theory for the day - it probably suits the Government for many of us not to realize how much our food has shot up in price - so I wonder if they are giving the supermarkets a "nod and a wink" to put the prices up in this devious sort of way.?

My Cat is really pussed off, his meals have shrunk by 15% and he is not happy. It's not his fault Whiskas didn't tell his owner, but did a crafty by keeping the boxes the same size. I call that lying, and think the company should be brought to book through the Courts.
Also toilet tissue seems to be a product on the same lines. Andrex are winding their toilet tissue very much looser, so that the rolls appear the usual size.

last year they decreased the size from 150ml to 100ml ... however the retailers have kept the price the same

Nivea said it was 'what the customers wanted' - i guess they did not ask the customers about the price staying the same!

I am buying a different product now ...
  • As others have said "I'm glad it's not just me".

I noticed the Copella fruit juice and also last week Sunraysia Prune Juice which went from 1ltr to 750 ml. The price went from about 2.28 to 2.15 in Sainsburys. I went to Tesco and the same thing had happened, except they still had the label below the new 750ml bottle which said 1ltr. I pointed the erroneous label out to a shop assistant who looked at me a little bemused :-)
  • We've noticed in our family that Cornetto ice-creams are definately smaller than they used to be - terrible!

As far as toilet rolls go.., have u never wondered why quilted toilet rolls keep being pushed. Because the same number of layers take up more volume.., u'r actually getting at least 30% less paper. I only bought a quilted roll once.., noticed it didn't last half the time and have not bought one since. At the same time, they stopped telling u how many 'squares' u were getting (or whatever the individual sheets are called).

THANK YOU!!! I told my family this last christmas (or beofre, I forget) that Schlur bottles were smaller then before. They were 1L now 750ml. I knew the second I picked the bottle up as it was narrower but they all said I was imaginig it (HA!)

And fruit shoot bottles. Picked that up the second they did it. Cheeky sods! (I know that ones already been mentioned but it needed saying again for what they cost!)

  • Galaxy chocolate bars - used to be 150g, now only 125g. Three or four years ago there were frequent promotions where you could get a twin pack (300g of chocolate) for £1.29, occasionally even £1.09; nowadays you have to pay over £1 in most places for a single 125g bar.

Also, in the 1980s Mars bars were 68g (I think the advertising made a big thing of this). Now they're only 58g.
