I bought the last YC TSV on QVC so have a stash already and am fortunate to have a local outlet store. If I didn't I don't think any amount of love for YC could drag me to B&Q to buy them.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Will try these at the weekend as none of my current candles are masking it, kitchen has big skylight and not a window, so it is a nightmare after garlic!
I am a fan of Yankee candles too, they create a great atmosphere in the home, but are not so great when it comes to cooking smells.
For this I use two things which I find work very well. Firstly 'Price's Cooks Candles@ which I normally buy from Lakeland but I am sure I have seen in Sainsburys. These are available in a candle or in tealight form. I prefer the tealight because I tend to forget to blow out the candle and use it up too quickly, whereas the tealights just burn away in a few hours.
For an aerosol to remove smells, I quite like the Febreze Air Fresheners in the tins (not the spray bottles for fabric). The new Egyptian Mystique one is lovely but their Fresh Linen one is just like Yankee 'Clean Cotton'.0 -

Home Store always have a range of the large Yankee Candle jars for £8.99. I love them but am quite disappointed that you get left with a good gloop of wax in the jar that won't burn.
The MSE thing to do with that is stick it in your knicker drawer to scent your smallsIf you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -

Thanks for that information, I forgot about those and I am in Lakeland this week for cling film
If I cook something really highly smelling I have found boiling a pan with some white vinegar in means the kitchen smells neutral the next day, but it is not nice at the time.
I'm not keen on sprays as I know it can affect peoples breathing, but I will get a can of that to spray in there just before bed to see if it helps in the morning
Unbelievable the difference not having a kitchen window makes if you use spices and garlic
Appreciate your post, thanks0 -
I bought a Yankee tart today in B&Q for 98p, no idea of how long it will burn for or indeed how much per hour, nor for the tealights I will be burning to melt the tart but I got Crisp Linen and its smelling pretty good right now.0

We were in B&Q last night and I picked up some of the tarts. Have to say that I don't think they are as potent as YC originals. Usually I can burn one tart for about 12 hours. The Simply Home one that I started burning this morning at 8.00am stopped smelling at about 2.00pm! Won't be buying these again. xBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge.
