MSE News: Petrol prices hit record high

Why do people think that fuel won't get cheaper? I have 2 tesco receipts lying in my desk drawer for diesel
25/06/08 48.15 litre @ 132.9 P/L £64.00
22/03/09 49.90 litre @ 97.9 P/L £48.85
I'm pretty sure that this shows that between June 2008 and March 2009 fuel got considerably cheaper.
If the price of oil plummets and the £ becomes stronger against the $ the price of fuel may drop (again).
Dont get me wrong, I'm as annoyed as anyone else about the 10p per litre rise over the last few weeks, but would like to think it can come down again!0 -

Do you know something that we don't?0 -
Like what?!!
Anything can happen really, the £ has been almost as weak as this before and recovered to £1 = $2.0 -
My money is on the pound getting even weaker.:(0

I was speaking to some American friends last night, and they are both of the opinion that the dollar is set to tank in the not too distant future. So the pound might not get stronger, but if the relative value of the dollar drops, we should still see an improvement.
I shall not hold my breath however.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

A lot of the reasoning went over my head (I don't follow US politics) but all is not well over there in a political sense, and their economy is more screwed than ours in reality (the paper SOA looks slightly more rosy, but they need to keep a spending diary is my best interpretation).Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. Wrong......
Petrol prices are not high.
The Pound has de-valued
The Dollar has de-valued

I am crying right now. A tank costs me approx £46 and I cover LESS than 300 miles on that. What car do you have if you don't mind me asking?
On a side note, does anyone know what the most economical small hatchback is - I've heard the VW Polo is very good?0 -

if your american friends told you then then I'd better start shorting the dollar now
