i am planning on travelling a bit when my last child turns 16 (which is 14 years away lol) which is one of many reasons id like to have plenty of money in the bank! the financial and travelling are def intertwined for me.

there are many places i would like to visit in the uk, and once ive done those i would like to travel to europe and further.

i have already visited: france, israel, cyprus, greece, spain, turkey and egypt.

italy is def on my list, africa and india too.

    ill get there: someday:)

I usually listen to some Paul McKenna cd's......they help me sleep (sorry Paul...I know they are supposed to have other effects as well! But when you are insomniac or wake up every bloody hour...on the dot....(what's that about?...) I just like to relax enough to sleep for a few hours or more at a time...

I also have a couple of cd's by Brian Weiss....meditation/regression etc......again I generally use them to relax myself enough to sleep...all very useful.......work for me anyway..........given that I am the type of person who starts to think about anything and everything the minute my head hits the pillow....and it is soooooooooooo annoying to still be there 3 hours later thinking I've got to be up at 6!

Lots of self help type books etc....which I do enjoy when I park myself down to read them.....they make great sense at the time, then I don't act on them..........I would be a completely 'sorted' person if I'd acted on any one of them by now!:o

5HTP....., some herbal type remedy from Holland & Barretts, bought for OH but he wouldn't use it because he said it tasted disgusting..........as I'm not one to waste I tried it...........he was right.......it does taste disgusting:p

The thing is I tend to think these things are good ideas, then I don't keep them up for long enough to see if they actually work! I am my own worst enemy!

Anyway, today I have decided I need to do some decluttering (again).....as a cluttered house means a cluttered mind and all that.............in which case it is a wonder I can function at all!:D

lol! Not taken at the same time! If you knew what I was like about taking any medications of any kind at all (I so take after my mum:o which is another story altogether:rolleyes: )........I'm generally in dire straights before I try anything!......and I'm very careful with what I do take...

Apparently the herbal stuff....Potters NODOFF mixture....is hypnotic is higher dosages......must admit I was tempted to do that just to see what affect it would have:p ...then the sensible me took over...boo hiss!

i didnt mean the medicine lol, i meant trying anything new at combatting the lack of sleep. if you try one thing, give it a bit of time and see if it works, if not then try something else....that way you can tell in an instance what it is that is helping.

:o See...lack of sleep is making brain go foggy!......about trying one thing at a time.....did I mention that I may be just in ickle bit impatient:o

I do get to sleep sometimes.....but I think that may be exhaustion! It's rare if I sleep straight through (bliss when it happens!)....I'm happy these days if I get to sleep a whole 5 hours without (knowingly) waking up...although I do find waking up before the alarm goes off very annoying.....

Unfortunately, I can't blame the new people who have moved in behind us with what appears to be a large bear type thing (think chewbacca for the noise it makes).....(ok its a dog....the size of a horse...) because I've had trouble sleeping for years.....other new neighbours also have a large noisy dog and they both set each other off, which is just a joy to behold.....who needs sleep! Not being entirely fare.....they are not that noisy....but it is a shock to the system if they start at 3 in the morning....

Oh I nearly forgot about the blasted magpies who obviously have personality disorders (they think they are woodpeckers and my guttering is a tree)....at 4 in the morning!

sleep deprivation is awful chris, have you tried talking to your gp and seeing what they suggest. do you have a bedtime routine? sometimes what you do and when you do it before bedtime can be a real trigger to getting a peaceful nights sleep. hth x

I have an aversion to GP's:o Don't like to bother them! I feel like I've made a mountain out of a molehill now!:p Its not that bad really, goes in cycles....sometimes I can sleep 'pretty' well, others its very broken....and can be for prolonged periods...probably just feels like its been ages...

It would help if I didn't dose off after I came in from work......trying to keep awake doesn't work though ...body says sleep..it goes to sleep....at the wrong time!

Have decided to start going to bed earlier, give my brain enough time to slow down before sleep.....think I'll dig out cd's I mentioned in another post (Paul McKenna/Brian Weiss).........I find them very relaxing...and they do send me off.............haven't listened to them in a while.........have to find them first......thats probably another thing.........not being able to relax when all around is clutter!!

You sound like you are keeping yourself on track too (with your OU course etc)...best of luck with that....Every now and then I think about doing OU course.........always thought I'd like to do Psychology (:p )...need to work on myself first I think! lol!

Then I think, I should do something work related (Boo!), but I've swapped and changed my mind about that I don't know how many times in the last 18 months! The idea of spending the next 4/5 years to try and become a chartered accountant does not fill me with joy......need to do something on a more personal level I think....
