Yeah, there's a school in Lancashire and they practice the TM (transcendental meditation) technique before class begins and when it ends and apparently their results are amazing, coming top every year! :j
My neice is a really sensitive wee soul and my sister was thinking about meditation for her. As young as 4 have learnt the technique, again with great results. :T
I think we all need to do something to nourish ourselves especially living in a big city, otherwise so many people are gonna burn and crash if they haven't already done so!

Is that in Skelmersdale (or just outside) by any chance? I remember a community being built there with a centre in the middle (can't remember if that was used as the school)....0 -
Yes, that's exactly where it is!

I do yoga, ashtanga style (will defeat your hatha style) for fitness mainly. I dont have the sensibility to understand the meditation aspect, and my yoga teacher refers to the asanas as 'moving meditations' anyway.
It's very difficult, with the breathing, the bandas and the constant press ups... I'd like to motivate myself to getting up at 7am every morning and doing it for half and hour before work, but I like late nights, and while I can motor through a day at work after a very late night (i generally dont drink weekdays), getting up and doing yoga would definitely be beyond me first thing.
I'ver recently read 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, which was a fun read. Not sure how much I gleaned from it at this point. Time will tell.Student Loan Company Ltd: 17,805 (2.8%) Overdraft: 500 (Interest free)

Well my meditation came long before my yoga practice. But I think if you were to combine them you would feel their benefits alot more.

The meditation I practice doesn't involve any belief system at all. It works naturally and in fact skeptics make the best meditators.
I simply repeat a mantra and within a few minutes I go very deep (transcend thought) and after 20 minutes I'm refreshed beyond belief!
Check out https://www.tm.org to get an idea of what TM can do for you.... Sorry, I don't know how to link!

Something I do to help me stay postive is to only listen to up-beat music. As soon as anything melancholcy comes on the radio, it gets switched off.
I know it sounds silly but I remember watching a documentary where they did anexperiment on twins. One was exposed to melancholy music and made to watch sad programmes. The other was exposed to upbeat music and comedies. Their movements were monitored throughout the day and the twin who'd been exposed to negative images/sounds ended up in a low mood. Where as the twin who'd been exposed to postive things ended up in a good mood.
But for DFWs, there was a draw-back. The twins moods were monitored whilst they went out shopping! The 'depressed' twin ended up not buying anything. But the 'happy' twin bought loads!
So whilst this might help with a postive mental attitude it might scupper plans to spend-less! Oh, the irony!0 -
Hi JD, yes it does cost alot of money! This is the only critisicm I have about it. But, what I will say is that it's worth it's weight in gold!
I also think you can get it on the NHS now. I know there are GP's throughout the UK that swear by it and may be able to refer you. I really dunno?
I learned about 4 years ago and then it was £500!!!! I now know it costs £1,245!!!!
But, you cannot learn in it in the UK at the minute coz the founder (Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the beatles guru, who brought the TM technique to the west) has banned it coz of the Iraq war. But you can learn it in the likes of Dublin and other places.
